If they are relatively proficient they can follow along. 3d controls can be a struggle for my younger kids.

my kids started playing the various Lego series (star wars, this, marvel etc.) right around then. should be good āļø

Mine is almost 5 and struggles with some timed mechanics in Lego City Undercover but I'll probably still buy this.

I'd gift a $10 Nintendo gift card and tell them to download this game.
It's such a glitchy game. Hard to control the characters (especially for kids) and then once you finally get your character to do what you want, the game often doesn't trigger that the current puzzle is complete. The only way I've got around it is to restart the game and redo the puzzle. It's maddening that you can literally do the same process and one time it continues the story while another time it just keeps you locked and can't progress without restarting.
