I think I will as well, but this is the first one to tempt me. Ironically it's the fact that the console is "limited edition" that is probably going to ensure I don't get it, as I want to play Spiderman 2, but that console is going to look funky in my living room so I'd end up getting a Faceplate as well.

I'm not entirely sure what they could improve on with a hardware revision. More support for 4K60 games? Better thermals? More internal storage? 2TB drives are $100 or less. The PS4 Pro made sense because 4K HDTVs were becoming widely available with lower price points.

Lastly I heard rumors that a Slim model was launching without an optical disc drive so you could buy the attachment separately if you wanted.

Slim iterations are aimed at reducing the cost of manufacturing. Historically, Sony has always downgraded the consoles with each variant. There are differences in 'fat' PS5 versions (smaller heatsink). Given Sony's track record, you can bet the slim version to be less robust. But that's not to say it will function differently.

That's a valid point. I've always been an early adopted, and the 1st Slim I bought was the PS3 Slim. If the revision doesn't improve performance then I'll just stick with my current PS5.
