Pretty much the best cable modem on the market. I bought one at the normalish $180 price a few months ago and it was worth it. If you need a cable modem, this is the cream of the crop at a no-brainer price.

I have one of these and like it, but it does tend to overheat sometimes causing reboots. The case doesn't have a lot of ventilation so I had to put small computer fans above and below it to keep the air moving.

I bought a used - fair about a couple of months back for $100 from Amazon.

Rock solid so far. No heating issue but mine is in pretty open spot.

Thanks OP - just picked one up. I have the SB6183 and it was dropping out on my frequently. There was a signal attenuator that was on it so I removed that and haven't experienced any drop-outs since but I'm still a bit paranoid, so I think I'll just switch over to this one. Won't really benefit from the high speed support since we're on a 150mbps plan but hopefully it'll be stable longer-term.

What's the difference between 3.0 and 3.1? How much is it to add wifi if it doesn't have it already built I'm? Thanks for the post.

I have one of these laying on the top of mine blowing air in. So far no reboots from heat and my house doesn't have central AC.

Bought an ARRIS Surfboard SB2200 about 11 months ago and it crapped out last Friday. Thankfully still under warranty and I still had my old modem to use in the meantime. Not sure I'd buy another Surfboard, and definitely not without a 2 year warranty.

Thanks OP, been on the lookout for one of these. Does factory reconditioned mean it was restored by the manufacturer, seeing as this has a 1 year warranty with Arris? or certified partner maybe?

For the price, you can't go wrong with this modem. The MB8611 is also in the same league as this modem, but the S33 has an extra 1GBE port and has more ISP support.

Does anyone have experience with going from a Motorola MB8600 to this? I've had a great experience with the MB, but wondering if this would provide faster speeds for my orbi mesh network?

Not sure the reputation of these refurbished units. But I bought this new for $135 earlier this year, and it's been working flawlessly.
