Nice! I paid like $600 each for 2, 3 day GA tix to Miami this year.
Can't say I'd go to another F1 race. Unless you find a spot in the shade with a giant tv screen in front of you, you really miss a LOT of the action. My plan was to listen to the Sky Sports commentators over my headphones to "audibly" follow the action, but it was like 15-20 seconds behind what was actually going on live. Might go to qualifying only next year if I find a really cheap ticket. Race day was SLAMMED in Miami. Practice and qualifying days were much easier to get around and see everything.

In Austin's defense, they have some very good GA viewing areas. There's a large space between the start-finish grandstand and turn 1 grandstand that you can actually see the start and the run-up to turn 1. You can pay extra and go up to the tower. The only issue is weather. It can get very muddy in the rain. There's no shade. One other thing: I noticed some cheap Miami GP tickets on Stub-Hub last minute. Having said all that, Montreal is the best F1 experience but GA sucks.

I hate the fact that DTS has made ticket prices unaffordable for the middle class. Miami wanted $800+ for a 3 day ticket 😭

Yet another way how COTA treats their loyal supporters. Been to every race there and being loyal to them means absolutely nothing anymore. In the past you had your own Account Executive you could secure the best tickets from before anybody else and who kept you up-to-date on what's going to happen and when and so on and so on.

For 2023 everything changed. AEs are no more (at least not for regular bleacher tickets) and pre-sales access deposit only meant you might get good seats. Previous years we always got the same seats through the contact, but not anymore.

We decided that 2022 would be the last year, but gave them one more chance in 2023 while we changed our approach a little bit. We've always had T9 bleacher tickets and stayed at a hotel downtown, but for 2023 decided to just take GA and friend will bring his new camper and we'll stay at the COTA camping lot. That'll be interesting. At least we don't have to deal with any traffic since we'll be at the camper Thursday through Monday.

It's not too many years ago when $300 got us top row bleacher seats at Turn 9 and Holiday Inn a couple of blocks from the Rainey Street bar/restaurant area cost $250/night... Frown Kind of surprised that the shuttle service prices didn't go up this year. :o

And don't even get me started on the prices in Miami or Vegas... Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

300 sounds amazing drool Went for FP (Turn 12) in 2021, did T9/T2/T4 in 2022, just buying tickets from people that couldn't make it (even after buying GA!).

Not sure if i'm going this year tho Embarrassment

If u try to watch the race and listen to outside commentators, they're like 15-30 seconds behind the live action. At least that was my experience at the Miami GP.

I think it's supply/demand/capitalism. They know how popular F1 has become and know they'll sell out even at the ridiculous prices.
People complain about the super high costs of Miami GP, but they still sell out. I honestly can't say I blame them. It's a business.

Went to the inaugural COTA F1 race and I recall it was $200 for 3 days w/ seats. Parking wasn't much either I think $20-30 a day. Fast forward and seasons of Drive to Survive later (I have yet to watch an episode), it's $350 for GA. I've gone to several racing events at COTA and had a chance to drive on the track myself. It's an awesome facility and wish WEC/IMSA races would come back.

Agree but make sure you arrive early on race day to save a good spot otherwise it won't be a good experience. Also, bring sunscreen. Definitely bring sunscreen. You're going to need it. Ask me how I know.

Absolutely it's 100% business and Liberty Media will milk it as long as they can. And I don't have to directly support their business if I so choose. There are still plenty of casual fans who they can entice to spend all the money due to the hype on Netflix, social media and such.

For somebody who is mostly interested in the racing part, such as myself and the group of friends I go with, it has become too much of a hassle and not necessarily worth all the money anymore. We'll see after this year. I'm sure they won't miss us if we decide not to go in 2024. Wave

Moto GP is still on the list of events we'll go, for sure. Went also to Nascar at COTA this year and might be back next year also for that.

I haven't been to an F1 race since Indianapolis. Sat near the finish line. I'm shocked at how much it costs now to attend a race. Must be getting old.
I totally agree. I went to Indy and Montreal in 2001 and 2000 and weekend pass along with main straight seats for the race were only $200!

Dang I paid ~$300 all in in 2021 for a good bleacher seat. I had a great time but $350 for GA is pretty high. You also get to spend 2 hours in the parking lot after the race because the infrastructure around the track is so bad 😅

Sky Sports commentary is horrible. They are biased towards there British drivers. I used to like when they had NBC commentary that was way better.

There are no American broadcasters. The U.S. broadcast is only from Sky Sports F1.

Too expensive, just re-watch the previous 15 GP's on TV Smilie - result will be same with a dominant car.

This is by far the most boring season in last 4-5 years. Hated when we had Mercedes winning all the time, hate it when RB's win all the time

Go to a race in Canada or Europe and spend less. the ridiculous upcharge in this country for them is borderline criminal. This seems reasonable but lodging, food and drinks and travel ofc aren't included yet. Having said that, I applaud Austin hosting a race over the glorified street circuits of Miami and Vegas any day.
