Can someone please tell me how these are better than sleeping on the floor or on a pad? I haven't tried one but I would think it would make noise as you move, and would stick up in weird places where the supports hold it up.

The fabric stretches as you lay on it kinda acts like a hammock, allows for much a much "deeper" supportive bed than a pad. If you combine a memory foam pad and a cot then it's very very comfortable in my experience.

I slept on something similar last weekend. No squeaks, and was comfy as a side sleeper for a weekend outing.

If there is rain or condensation in your tent you will still be dry. If you have problems with your back or knees you may have more difficulty getting up from the ground. If you have limited space in your car, I would go with an air mattress or sleeping pad.

Tarp on the floor should address that concern, though I haven't had any issues with other cots that I've used.

A huge benefit will come in the cooler months when being off the ground will prevent the ground from leeching the warmth from you (if you have have a /really/ thick insulated mat).

Also seconding the back & knees comment above. A cot with a $20 4" foam mat from a department store (I always see them at Fred Meyer (Oregon) and a craft store (Joanne's/Michael's).

Also, this is not so lightweight at 13lbs - IDK how far you're going with this thing on your shoulder.

Headrest feature seems like it could be more of a neck ache than anything elseā€¦?

I have used both air beds, camping cots and camping cot with air bed within.

Air beds: comfy, but takes up a lot of retail space and no additional storage. Will not scuff floors. Easy set up. Is prone to deflation. Not so heavy and just have to deal with 1 piece.

Camping cots: added a memory foam cushion with it and felt pretty good. You have additional storage beneath as well. Moderate difficulty for set up. Mildy heavy, with bed and cushion.

Camping cot with queen blow up mattress within: comfortable. Has additional storage underneath. Most difficulty when setting up with 1 person. Is prone to deflation. Most heaviest out of the 3 beds.

All 3 keeps you off the ground, and helps with folks who have back problems. But so far I been using the camping cot with memory foam set up.

Hope this helps!
