It's not really that simple. In most cases the difference between 3200 and 3600 is negligible at best.

IMO, if you never want to touch anything but XMP settings in bios, 3200 is the way to go. 3600 will require more tweaking (usually) but you have a 5%-10% (mayyyyyybe.... and those are edge cases) higher performance ceiling.

There are some cases (5800x3d for example) where you won't only *not* get a performance boost from 3600.. but depending on timings on the dimms you could even see a performance *decrease*.

Newegg still has 3600mhz with 16 CL for $75 if anyone is interested. G.skill ripjaws without led. Or 3200/16 for $57.
