Hey, all! I hope you're having a great start to the week! And if you're not, I'm about to change that for you real quick. I've found some really amazing-looking books on Amazon this morning that are—you guessed it!—completely FREE for download.

As always, I will be going in order of preference, starting with the book that I think is most promising and that I am most excited for.
Hold onto your seatbelts, because we'll be swerving across genres like there's no tomorrow. My recommendations are nothing if not varied.

Arch Recruit by T.C. Lowrey

Coming in hot at number one of Most Anticipated Free Download Of This Week is T.C. Lowrey's Arch Recruit.

Going off the blurb, Arch Recruit is a really unique and interesting blend of genres: at first, it hooks you in with a gorgeous romance, and then the vibe completely changes when we're introduced to a paranormal world and cast of characters. I'm gathering (from the blurb and the title) that this comes from an "archangels" element… and that gets me very, very excited. Not only that, but this (well, the "urban" parts—not so much the "fantasy" parts, I'm guessing!) is based on a true story; the author's past, I think.

Our MC (and author!) is an ex-veteran who has been pretty hardened by the world when he unexpectedly meets the love of his life. (I'm getting "I-hate-everybody-but-you" trope vibes, which I love.) Our guy is just getting used to his new life of peace when his love is torn away from him, and from there, he is recruited for one last mission. (An otherworldly mission, maybe? Possibly?) From here, the pace picks up rapidly, and the stakes are high—for our main guy, and maybe even for the world as we know it. There's no time for messing around or for self-doubt: it's go big or go home.

Basically, I think this book probably has a little something for everyone: a squishy (but realistic) romance for our loverboys and gals out there; a supernatural element, for lovers of all things fantasy; and, of course, universal themes such as love, loss, and destiny.

To top everything off: the reviews for this one are raving. I really don't think it's one to miss. And it's FREE! Download at: www.amazon.com/dp/B0C434652Z [amazon.com].

Innocence Taken by Victoria M. Patton

This book offers a nice segue from my previous recommendation, as this also sounds like a cool blend of genres—namely, romance and crime thriller.

Here, we are following Lieutenant Damien Kaine, who is investigating the brutal murder of a teen when he receives word that another one (who looks remarkably similar to the previous victim) has also been murdered. And then another.

Doesn't sound like a good work week.
With the stakes getting higher and the investigation coming to a standstill, an FBI profiler is called in to assist Damien in the investigation…and sparks fly, despite the gory circumstances.

So, we have something for you people who love your romance to have a bit of… well, something else going on. This ain't no cushy romance; there is also some real brutality going on. I can't wait to find out how any of it comes to a resolution, and by the sounds of it, not many emerge disappointed: this book has five thousand ratings and a 4.4-star average rating on Amazon.

Mystery on Hidden Lane by Clare Chase

It seems as though Bernard Fitzpatrick was just the victim of an unfortunate accident when he is found drowned in the river of his quaint, cozy village. However, upon close investigation, obituary writer Eve Mallow realizes there's more to the incident than meets the eye: Bernard, surprisingly, had a string of enemies he seemed to leave in his wake everywhere he went, and when another body turns up, it's enough for Eve to become suspicious over the true nature of his death. Was it really the tragic accident it initially seemed to be?

By the sounds of it, this book juxtaposes the sweet, quintessential setting of the English countryside with a dark underbelly of murder, deception, and cruelty, and I already love it. What's more, this is book one of eleven (yes, eleven!) in a series, so should you find yourself obsessed, you'll be sorted for the rest of the summer (and perhaps even the fall, too!).

How to Study the Bible Intentionally: Methods and Conditions for Effective Bible Study by R. A. Torrey

This one is for all my fellow Christians out there!

I think it's a pretty normal part of everyone's spiritual journey to realize that they perhaps haven't been studying the Bible in the most productive way possible. We all know that Bible study is important, but it doesn't seem right to "wing it" and expect to get just as good results as anyone else.

Enter How to Study the Bible Intentionally!

R. A. Torrey was a pretty big deal in the Christian sphere some one hundred years ago, and his approach to studying the Bible is tried, tested, and revered by the community. So, I was thrilled when I saw it was available for free!

Shadow Falls by Wendy Dranfield

Proceed with caution: it sounds like this book could get dark.

Detective Madison Harper receives the call that parents have reported their twelve-year-old daughter missing. The young girl was last seen playing in Shadow Falls with her friends, and now, she is nowhere to be seen. On the surface of it, this could be a normal missing child case (or as normal as they get!), but Madison has doubts: why did the parents take so long to report their daughter's absence? And what is this disturbing portrait the little girl drew before she went missing? Something isn't right, and Madison isn't afraid to press the family for answers.

This one probably won't be for the fainthearted, but I reckon it's going to offer some huge payoff in the form of some crazy twists and turns. And the best part, it's free, free, free!: www.amazon.com/dp/B08LQLP3FX [amazon.com].
