I own 3 Travelpro Maxlite 4 suitcases and I bought them because of their great reputation and warranty. One has been used for maybe 5-6 trips and both grab handles broke off on my last trip. It's been in the shop waiting for warranty service for 3 months and counting. Another has a bad zipper that goes off track all the time but Travelpro won't repair under warranty. The pull handle on the third has degraded over time and become a gross sticky mess. I've really soured on the brand.
I used to travel a lot and did extensive research on luggage. TravelPro offers top quality luggage. But MaxLite is lightest and cheapest product in TravelPro product lines. Platinum Elite is more expensive, heavier, but the best top in their product lines.
This deal is long dead but I have a variety of 2 wheel and 4 wheeled carry ons. B&R 22CX (spinner), Tumi
22 (2 wheels), Samsonite (spinner), Travelpro Maxlite (spinner) and TravelPro Platinum Elite (2 wheels). Oldest being the Samsonite from 2010. I prefer to fly with a spinner when traveling with family and more than 1 carry on so I can roll more than 1 at a time.
When flying for work (2-3 times a month), I prefer the 2 wheeled TravelPro Platinum Elite. It's usually stuffed with more clothes you would need for a 3-4 day trip (Formal, Business Casual, Casual, lounge) and is easier to roll over everything, carpet, hard floor, pavement with my extremely heavy laptop bag atop. I struggled rolling a spinner on a few work trips and the bag wanting to always tip over while rolling and have since switched to 2 wheeled.
Each has it's place, knowing what you are comfortable with in each situation.
