A few weeks ago they had the Ooma Telo Air 2 plus 3 HD3 Handsets for $99.99 so if you need more handsets that deal will probably come back.

If I am not mistaken, I think you can hook up any handset you already have to the Ooma. You can also hookup the base station of a multi-handdset to the Ooma.

I had the original version. I hook up my multi-handset base to Ooma and it works great.

Yes you can, but if you want more than 1 phone number and for it to ring certain Handsets then you need extra handsets. Otherwise, you are good with just the 1 handset and a regular cordless phone set. However, at $30 more for the 2 additional HD3 Handsets you really can't beat that price.

If you have Amex check for the ooma credit, you can get these for about $16 after tax if you have the Amex promo. I don't think the sound quality is very good but my mom won't give up the land line so this is the cheapest option for her to keep it.

You could do what I did and call Ooma and tell them you have an old Telo device and that it isn't worth buying a new one and paying for Premier so you are just going to cancel Premier unless they offer you a promo on a new Telo. After offering me 50% off I said that wasn't good enough and then the rep came back with a free Telo. I received it. It is a refurb or open box, but I got it. I also got them to throw in a free HD3 Handset.

There is also a promo right now to subscribe to Premier and get $20 off ($99.99) and get a free new Telo and a Water Sensor - https://my.ooma.com/products/premier_tbm_telo

How well does this work? The Costco reviews sound like people are having trouble with it. But maybe they're just having trouble getting it set up correctly.

I was looking at setting my parents up with this (with their free service hopefully)

I have had an OOMA for about 12 years. I no longer recommend them because they don't handle texts. If someone sends a text to your OOMA number, they don't get any indication that the text has not gone through. If you have multiple numbers listed in say a medical account, it's not uncommon for someone to just text the first number in the account. That text will not go through. It's happened to us several times when the texts were really important. (You can set up Google voice to handle this, but all calls then need to go to Google Voice.)
