IMO this is a terrible deal. Rand isn't as prestigious as Pamp and the price is almost $50 over spot. Only proplspective 4% back might sweeten the pot.

If you're as discerning as me, you won't tolerate the 0.1 imperfection.

What's the point of buying physical gold bars... it's impractical to trade in a SHTF scenario, and bars don't gain collector value like coins. The only way to offload is to sell at below spot... so it's only a hedge if it suddenly gains value, but the world governments manipulate the value (thus is hasn't gone up like everything else with inflation), so what's the practical point? Serious question for those buying.

probably pointless if you have USD, as long as it remains the world reserve currency. on the other hand if you were in say Venezuela, Turkey, Lebanon etc, having gold/silver/bitcoin would have prevented your wealth from disappearing

Valid, although don't countries like these generally seize and make illegal private gold ownership when things that that happen? (thinking about Mexico in the 90's... it's still illegal to take gold out of the country last I heard)

My favorite part of the whole buying gold cause "end of the world" stuff..... What do you think will be of more use if it was a total collapse of the economy, no electricity, no production of anything....... A gold bar or a couple cans of spam and a bottle of water? "But I can trade the gold for that".......lol, yeah, no. If currency is worthless, your dirty metal will also be worthless.

Exactly, you're better off buying firearms and bullets.
