For anyone that is confused, I just bought this today as someone who doesn't currently have gamepass.
I bought 11 codes which came to be $75.31 including tax and service fee.
I got an extra month of xbox gold pass for turning on auto renew.
Now I have 34 months of xbox gold.
Now that my account has 34 months of xbox gold, I bought a month of xbox gamepass ultimate for $16.99 at xbox.com(if you have a new account you may be able to get one for free)
Once I buy 1 month of xbox gamepass, all my 34 months of xbox gold is converted to 22.5 months of xbox gamepass ultimate.
Now it says I have xbox gamepass ultimate until 8/22/25 (727 days) (22.5 xbox gold conversion + 1 xbox gamepass I payed for)
Summary: For about $92.30 you can get 2 years of xbox gamepass ultimate

I've heard Xbox live gold won't exist anymore after a certain date in September. It's possible the keys may not work after that. It wouldn't surprise me if that's why people are unloading these so cheap.

Edit. Xbox live gold ends on 9/14/23

It converts 3:2 for Inactive Ultimate = 2 Month Ultimate for 3 Month Gold then have to redeem 1 month ultimate to convert it once add all the Gold Codes you want to convert first.

If active Ultimate it only adds 50 days per 3 Month Gold so you lose 10 days compared to inactive

Oh I see, so if I understand currently since am not on an active GPU subscription, I'd have to pay for one month of the ultimate (after redeeming live gold) on top of my purchase of the Live gold to make the conversion right?

Yep . And my current Sub reups on the 22nd. Guess I got to do this for now. Grabbed 6 keys for now to get me through a bit.
