About this Item:- Lock and unlock your door from anywhere by adding the lock to a compatible Z-Wave smart home or alarm system and app (i.e. Samsung SmartThings, Ring Alarm, Wink, ADT, Alarm.com, Qolsys, Honeywell etc.). Requires compatible hub and app
- Key-free access, your way: Everyone that needs access can choose their own way to unlock, whether that's the keypad, Auto-Unlock or the Yale Access app on your smartphone or Apple Watch. This product will not operate outside of the U.S and Canada.
- Let Yale Auto-Unlock: For those times when your hands are full, Yale can get the door. With optional Auto-Unlock, you won't need to touch the lock, or your phone.
- Expecting company? Share unlimited codes with family, friends, and service people for simple, trackable access to your home, using the Yale Access App, so you'll never hide a key again.
- Don't worry, it's locked: Never wonder if you remembered to lock the door. Yale can be set to Auto-Lock once DoorSense detects that the door has closed.

The 700 series Z-Wave modules (ZW3) aren't fully or officially compatible with the Assure 2 locks yet (except for maybe the YRD450 for some reason).
These locks do a good job of warning you when the battery is low so you have plenty of time to change it. You can also use a 9V battery to charge it up to enter a code if needed.
Either way, good deal on this lock!
The reason your WiFi one works better is like you said, it's got a powered repeater basically sitting on top of the lock.

I have only found the Z-wave versions of this lock on Amazon and on Yale's website. All other places I've checked only have the Bluetooth or wi-fi versions.
You can still add a Z-wave module, but if you don't already have one, then that's another potential hundred bucks.
EDIT: And it seems like the Z-wave modules for the Assure 2 series of locks are different than the modules from the older locks.

Save your money and buy the nest x yale lock, my honest opinion.
