About this game:
  • King's Bounty: The Legend is an adventure game with tactical turn-based battles and role-playing elements. In a fairy tale fantasy world of fearless knights, evil mages, wise kings and beautiful princesses the player controls a hero. Leading their character through the game world, exploring it, commanding armies in battle and accomplishing various quests can mean great reward or huge defeats.
  • Gameplay is divided into two major sections: adventure mode and battle mode. While playing in adventure mode the gamer controls their character in real-time. With several classes available at the start of a new game, the player moves through the adventure map seeking various treasures, fighting monsters and accomplishing quests tasked to him by the local stewards. Once in battle mode the gamer assumes the role of a war chief, leading his troops in tactical turn-based combat. Battles take place on land or sea, in dungeons or castles or even in some items! The hero himself doesn't participate in the combat, but can assist his troops by casting spells or summoning different creatures.

Very loosely. Take Heroes of Might and Magic but without capturing towns and area control. You control a single hero for the entire game and you just have a ton of options of neutral troops to choose from. Things stay balanced because your army size is limited by your stats. It's an interesting take on the formula, with a little more focus on the (still pretty light) RPG aspects and less stress since you don't have territory to defend.

Played this game so many times over the years, and all the following games. It is kind of like HOM, but I feel like it has more freedom and fewer limitations. Some of these types of games penalize you by having turn counters or limited movement around the world, but you can explore as much as you want in KB without penalty.

King's Bounty is one of the best series of games ever. Get this for free, play it, and then get its amazing sequel, King's Bounty Crossworlds, which is the pinnacle of the series.

Unlike other trash free games, this is a good one. I played a lot. Like it.

Yes, kind of Heroes of M&M style but more freedom. I like to get some dragons (steal dragon eggs) when I am still weak so that I become Juggernaut.

BTW, if you think you like it, they do have more latest versions. They are also good but I may not say much better. I do own a bundle of King's Bounty, no longer have that free time to play games regretfully.

I'm not sure why but I never really got into turned based games, always find the turn basis boring. No matter how good of a game it is, it just didn't work for me. Action rpg or mmorg has always been my thing.

This game came out in 2008. Were you still using a CGA 8086 in 2008.
