Good deal! Just bought one at Micro Center for $280. That was the cheapest price I'd seen recently. Great chip to upgrade to and give your AM4 mobo some more years. Pairing it with a 3090 FE. Looking forward to some screaming FPS in 2K.

Almost bit on the 5800x posted here recently. Pretty nice processor too but the 5800x3d will be more future proof as games get even more CPU intensive.

That's a good point, and it did release after the 7000 series lineup, but I dunno, I think AM4 is done at this point.

I just got the 5800x deal, is this way better or just stick with the 5800x? also, I plan to do some vr gaming with this.

Actually there is a 5900x3d sample/prototype amd was working on. Gamersnexus did a video on it.

Will the games you're interested in even be CPU bound on a 5800x with the rest of your setup? 5800x3D is not worth it at all to me because I don't play competitive games and am only using an RTX 3060.

From everything I've read and seen the x3d is superior for gaming vs the 5800x. As games become more CPU reliant your card could become a bottleneck for a high end GPU. For faster frame rates and some future proofing the x3d is superior, hence the price diff. For other tasks and productivity they are pretty even with the 5800x beating it at some tasks. Some good comparisons out there. Just google 5800x3d vs 5800x. I decided on the 5800x3d to pair with my 3090FE. Upgraded from a R7 3700x which would definitely bottleneck my card.
