Do they support CRF option?
Do they support CRF option?
If you want to know the encoder settings I use hit me up.
Also FWIW the size is within 10% of AV1 sw optimized and with the 12th gen enhancements to the QSV and using the jellyfin SPECIFICALLY the PQ is far superior to VAAPI and what you hear about HW encoders is probably from folks not using the latest and greatest compiled build. From what I gathered the jellyfin version is the only one that does it properly, and it has encoded over 600 epi for me and it looks great! general ffmpeg/handbrake do NOT have the compiled pipeline to take advantage of 12/13th gen Intel enhancements.

Be aware most of the N95/N100 use single channel RAM so encoding speed (HSV) will probably be slower. I'm using a 12650H (NAB7) for my encoding pipeline now. It barely breaks 30W when encoding at full bore. Of course you can do it no problem w/ an N-series it likely won't be a s fast, but way faster than SW AV1. I have not tried a HW AV1 pipeline yet, but I don't think the freeware encoders are optimized yet for specific 12+ instructions/pipelines. Maybe in a few years I revisit AV1 but am happy now.

Did you compare say bitrates with same quality between slowest hevc_qsv settings and software hevc on veryslow preset (or other hard settings)?
My purpose is archiving, so I wonder if hevc_qsv can even get close to veryslow softwware preset with CRF option?
Does hevc_qsv "global quality" work any similar to CRF in SW?
Trying to determine if hevc_qsv has any similar option to CRF in SW as it safes a lot of bitrate.
Is AV1 SW on medium settings?
Can you give a couple examples with specific resolution/preset for what FPS one can expect? (especially interest in slowest settings)
How much RAM hevc_qsv needs say for 1080p on slowest settings?
I rarely do encoding, so I'm looking for the cheapest device (bitrate close to SW bitrate is important though as its for archiving purpose).
