damn, just picked up the ATX Pro4 yesterday from Microcenter for $95. Might have to return & order this even though I don't need the M.2 but it can't hurt. Any major differences I should be aware of?

Fair enough. First ever build for me & i've mostly seen great performance reviews of their mobos so hopefully I can have the pleasure to be a part of those reviews.
ive heard that even some B550 mobos need to have their bios updated before being able to use the X3D chips.
I am afraid of buying on and unable to use it if i drop in a 5800X3D, since this board dont have that bios flash button.
Bios flashing is easy. Some board manufacturers have a utility that does it for you otherwise it's drop the file on a USB drive, boot to bios, go to flashing utility in bios and choose the file on the USB drive. Done in like 5-10 minutes

You guys know more about ASrock MB's than I do I'm sure but just wanted to share my experience albeit on a different Asrock MB model.
(also I should point out this was my experience in Nov 2022 so close to a year ago not sure how much things have changed since then)
I grabbed an ASrock motherboard , ASRock B550M PRO4, and tried to get an AMD Ryzen 5,m 5600x CPU up and running on it .. darn thing just would not cooperate, I took a gamble on it hoping the negative amazon reviews (which stated the MB was made before processors like that one so the BIOS didn't support it out of the box) wouldn't apply in my case but just my bad luck, amazon must have shipped me one of their older MB's.
The problem I ran into as far as BIOS flashing was.. well I couldn't get the PC up and running to flash the bios in the first place ... the motherboard/CPU/Ram/power supply et cetera combination just would not turn on and boot, I'm guessing due to the CPU issues.
I ordered an ASUS ASUS TUF Gaming B550M-PLUS motherboard (which I'm not recommending right now given it's high price on amazon - I dunno maybe if you find a reputable seller on ebay and it's new?) after that primarily due to the bios flash button .. I didn't take a chance on seeing if the existing BIOS would recognize the ryzen CPU I just upgraded the BIOS to the latest version deemed "stable" by the Asus website and the PC I was building booted up without any problems.
It's probably overkill on my part now but I've made a point since then to only order MB's that have the bios flash button on them such that you can upgrade the bios with a usb stick (with the bios downloaded onto the usb drive) and a push of the button on the MB even without the PC up and running). I'm bewildered that MB manufacturers don't make this a common feature on all their MB's it makes life so much easier.
