You won't be able to bring them together only if you want to make the arms flat in the back. If you have about 10" space between desk and wall, you can position the monitors anywhere you want.

I am using an older model of this (G32-B vs G35) with two 27" wide that are on the heavier side. Zero issue with weight and no wobbling whatsoever.
Otherwise the arms are pretty sturdy and tension can be adjusted.
