Amazon changed their way of giving you the extra 20% discount. They used to give it to you immediately, but now you have to send in your trade in item and have it appraised before you receive the 20% discount. If you are still using that item why would you send it in and wait till they have another promotion on the item you want to get. If Amazon wants to appraise the trade in before giving you the gift card that's fine, but give us the 20% immediately

Interesting, mine applied instantly yesterday. This must be a new change today? I also got my gift card instantly.

I traded in an old echo dot...2nd gen i think. They will give you the discount plus whatever the trade in value is of the device. In my case they gave me $5 gc + 20% off

Mine didn't work literally instantly but it did work 30min laterm I could apply the 20% and my trade in value gift card. But it didn't work when I tried to pick the bundle with the Philips hue bulb for just $2 more. Only worked with standard bundle including only remote
