there's a hack for the 2.0, and 4.0 with a charger for about 20 dollars less.

the 2.5, and 5.0 might be a better deal if you already have the charger..

I'm curious to know what cells are in these... They say "Made in China", so are they using Chinese made cells like Ryobi started doing?? As opposed to the better cells made in Korea, Singapore, Japan, etc.
I bought some older Ryobi batteries on purpose, to get "Cells made in Singapore, battery finished in China". Brand new in the packaging via eBay.
I guess could buy these, then open them and inspect. If Chinese cells --> return.

^This, 20700/21700 cells don't fit in the stem of an M12, they were designed with and limited to 18650s. But there are plenty of high output 18650s if you're willing to limit the capacity somewhat and pay a little more. That's what these batteries do. The 2.5 performs better than any of the CP series but below the smallest XC and the 5.0 performs better than any of the XC series. None of that matters much unless your tool (stubby impact and gen 3 fuel drill driver probably) can't take advantage though. I picked up the 2x 2.5 for 50 clearance and they work fine but I haven't really pushed them, not sure I have any M12 tools yet that they will even make a difference in. There are several test videos etc out there illustrating them. If you aren't limited by form factor (EG you're ok with XC size M12) you can save some cash buying any XC cell over the 2.5 though.

No, the M12 HO batteries use Samsung 25S cells. They are similar to the venerable 25R cells but have a higher max discharge and less of a voltage sag at full tilt. They are proving to be excellent, high discharge cells.

Also, if you buy Ryobi HP batteries you'll get name brand cells, likely from Samsung. The El Cheapo Ryobi batteries use the Chinese brand cells.

Just realized I've been running all my tools with two compact 1.5Ah batteries and I'd like to get a few of the beefier ones. Is this a good deal to at least get the 5.0, or is there regularly a deal for something like 2x5.0 for a little bit more?

These cells are E-Moli cells. Some of the best batteries in the market. That being said, they are still batteries and need to be treated properly for longevity.

I have both. On the hatchet chainsaw I get the same or more from the 5.0 compared to the 6.0. The 5.0 and even the small ho battery i prefer for that tool over all others. For m12 lights they all last so long it doesn't matter. Drills and drivers all are fine but more constant use or bigger projects I find myself grabbing these first. I have been really happy with them. I'll never buy the 6.0 again. I'd rather have this 5.0. Hopefully this helps some.

I'm waiting for two HO 5.0 to go on sale. I have two regular 1.5 and they don't last long
