I installed and played this on PC a month or two ago. It wasn't horrible. I won my first match, but maybe that is the way matchmaking goes for your first few matches. I assumed I was playing against people playing on their phones, as many of the opponents were slow to react. It felt like a mobile game on a PC and it wasn't as fleshed out as Apex or PUBG.

I believe this is one of those games that pit you against bots as well, especially during your first few matches.

It's a pretty fun game but it's riddled with bots. There are some active players but most of your lobbies early on will be against 90%+ bots. Once you get to higher ranks, which only takes a week or 2, you will go against cheaters every game. The game has pay to enter tournaments and cheating is a huge issue... pretty common though for free to play games unfortunately!
This is a mobile game first and was ported to PC(slowly adding PC features), the game is great, it does need time to grow and evolve though. There are bots until you get higher rankings, but I see the devs always taking feedback and telling everyone what is coming and that they are working on big improvements, need heroes, maps, weapons, and content. If they keep it up it could be massive. That said I'm confused why it's a deal right now since it's been out and is f2p since May, and about 2 years in beta in other countries.

Thanks for the background and information. It's a "deal" now, because it was new to me, and it doesn't look like anyone had posted about it in the past, and despite a lot of free-to-play games out there, it actually looked pretty promising, so I decided to share in case there was anyone else (like me) who had never heard of it and was interested. Sometimes Slickdeals is the only place I hear about decent free-to-play games.

Gotcha, I do like looking at free or cheap game on here. Def hope a good amount of people here pick it up to play, the game could use a good wave of new players
To anyone wondering, the game does have its issues - like most games these days. But it is free to play and really does a good job in that department as far as character unlocks and gameplay content.
The game is certainly not as polished as others and I would describe it as a "bootleg Apex legends." However, where it shines is in its core gameplay. It really feels like playing Apex legends just after its initial release again.
And its downright fun if you can look past the not-so-subtle character rip-offs, terrible voice lines, and the occasional cheater every once in a while.
For those who are willing to drop some money, the battle pass is only $5. Customization items are $3-$6 which is downright reasonable when other games are charging $24-$30/skin.
The gripe I have with the cosmetics is the way in which the game uses temporary unlocks as a mechanic for items. This, combined with its heavily cheesed loot box/gambling mechanics, makes for an incredibly frustrating scenario. For the majority of loot boxes, you can end up "unlocking" a 24hr customization item that goes away again and is available for "unlock" again.
Also, I can't figure out if there's a way to combine account progress with the PC game and iOS app so if anyone knows the answer please reach out
