Every time I see an Inspire Trainer deal I HAVE to jump into the thread to remind everyone that the foldable bench is pretty low to the ground thus making it double as an amazing bench to have sex on. It's really sturdy and your girl will be able to reach the floor as she rides on top. Not joking when I say that "feature" made the purchase 100% worth it.

Onto the fitness-y stuff, Inspire makes an amazing Trainer. As mentioned above, I have the FTX model and the pulleys are damn smooth and the machine is solid. I've put it together, taken it apart and put it together again with just the help of my wife. I haven't messed with the one on sale here and I'd probably prefer the FTX model due to the width, but I'm positive this one is incredible as well.

Even though I've upgraded to a commercial FreeMotion Dual Cable Machine, I still kept the Inspire because it's just too damn nice to sell and for the amazing sex bench.
Stop. Sound like my son's friends who think whatever they just heard or leaned from someone who "knows" how to lift. Been lifting for over 30 years, with pro athletes, pro body builders, trainers, people who fix people who get hurt all the time and everyone has their preference. No real or fake lifting - well except maybe those fake cross training weights. Best sports trainers I know have smith machines - preference. If you use anything wrong you can get hurt. To say it's for beginners is just silly and uninformed. Like the other poster said, sometimes folks get older, have different goals and might not have a ton of space. I don't know any sports professional or any rehab specialist who benches - at least not with a Straight bar or on a flat bench. If I "bench" I incline and use dumbells or cables - classic bench is terrible on various joints. Bench is the good ol "look at me and how much I lift". Guess cool when you are young and trying to catch a girl or impress the homies but how you also get hurt. In fact at reputable rehab locations or conditions facilities I know they use the smith machine to teach technique because most people are not confident enough, knowledgeable enough or strong enough to unrack and do various squats. Some chose to eventually get off the machine or continue to use it but to say you develop bad for is simply not true. Bad form is a result of not knowing what you are doing (never being taught), muscle imbalances, muscle weakness or just a thick head. If the smith machine will get a person working out, all good. Anyone trying to dump on equipment simply because they don't prefer it or use something else doesn't help those trying to make an informed decision they may need to change their quality of life. Some of us who are now older and gone through the torn muscles, and now have lingering aches that don't go away might like to transition to simpler equipment that doesn't take up half the garage. My kids might like more area for their wrestling mats 😉

Not trying to sound like a"do you even lift" kinda guy, but assuming there's a way to add plates? 330 on the squat is good, but will be exceeded in time.

edit, looked it up, so the stacks are 2:1, so its actually half the weight per stack (82.5), but you can use a "doubling function" to double it. So 330 is the max of this machine. Great for many exercises except a more advanced squat and deadlift.
While some people do use FTs for everything, their primpary purpose is for accessory movements. That's why even 99% of even the $10k commercial FTs top out at ~100 lbs max resistance per side.

This one or the FTX for $999?
That all depends on whether you want a Smith machine. I'm not a fan of them, so I would go straight FT, but to each his/her own.

For a thin guy wanting to build 'some' muscles, just good enough. Not trying to become a hunk.

God I wish I could order this. Both Inspire machines are out of stock for basically most of the south. So very frustrating how costco does this.

I picked this up over a year ago and use it 3-5 times a week. It's a fantastic machine if you have limited space.
As noted, the bench is really low, so I picked up another bench that sits higher and that drops so I can do a modified roman chair.
The smith bar is actual weight, but individual handles, etc are 1/2 the weight unless you clip the cable to the smith bar. Seems awkward, but works well enough.
I'm extremely satisfied with the machine.

I've had the Inspire FT2 for years, which looks to be a step above this, anyways it's been great! I also have a set of fully loaded power blocks dumbbells. Combined you can do anything you could ever need, imo.
Really well made machines.
For those worried about if it's enough weight, just do more reps! Studies have shown that more reps is just as effective as heavier weights for building and conditioning muscles. Unless you're just after vanity reps and wrecking your body for nothing. I can't tell all the differences but I do notice this I've doesn't have the pulleys at the center top and center bottom and mid, which does minus some functionally, but then again this is a good bit less expensive. If you can find a good deal on an FT2, I'd go that route, but for the price this looks like a really great machine!

Crazy deal. I've been watching this for a long time and it hasn't been on sale much. A few months back it was $200 off but $800 is insane! Don't wait, jump on it if you want one.

I bought this last time it was on sale for 2k. Very sturdy machine. I am not sure the Smith bar was worth the extra 1k but we will see. Unexpected bonus...the weight assisted pull up's are awesome! My daughter worked her way up to doing them in assisted

I'm going to agree with most of what you said, great machine, great level of resistance and great for conditioning and building muscles... Unless you are solely exercising for advanced hypertrophy (big body builder muscles) then reps won't build the largest muscles, only more weight does that. Again 99% of people will get everything needed out of this machine.

You can disagree, but it doesn't make you right. Now, you could argue about strength, but not muscle growth. There is still a benefit to high weight, low rep if your concern is single rep max, such as a power lifter. However, there are some very well researched and established recent studies backing up my statements on muscle growth. Really easy to Google, my friend.

$50/month for 3 years would cover the total cost. Why not join a gym man...
The convenience of having this in your home workout room or garage.

The smith machine and cable combinations can really cover all the bases of a weight lifting regime if used right. And yes I have this and love it.

Honestly I have a gym i go to and it's free and nice but also a drive. With this I could work out at home more often and to right back to having fun with my kids and wife. It's not about not going to the gym and what not but time saving to me. I just wish I could order it but it dropped out of stock a few days ago along with the other one in my area.
