Bought this in March of 2021 for $55. Has been on my wrist ever since. Love the fact that it lasts at least two weeks without fail even 2.5 years later. There are no more updates to it now, but it's solid enough. I don't use it for sports, just keeping an eye on heart rate, steps and sleep. It's well known that the heart rate sensor isn't too accurate for sports, but I'm not worried about that. I travel a lot between time zones, and it still screws up sleep and step data when the time zones switch. They screwed that up years ago and are apparently never going to fix it. However, until Apple releases a watch that lasts at least 5 days, I'm sticking with this. Also the screen has very few scratches which is surprising seeing I take it to work and do everything else with it. All that said, I recommend this as a budget smart watch, as long as you remember to not expect Apple sensor accuracy.
Yea but none of them are $50 though. This is one of very few watches at this price range that is actually functional, along with great battery life that puts the big guys to shame. Honestly, I've had my AW7 for over a year now and no one has ever asked me "What kind of AW is that?" It's so common now that no one even bats an eye. Now I wouldn't trust any health metrics from this thing, but a watch that gives notifications from your phone and some other info AND doesn't need to be charged every night is a winner at this price.
It does, although it takes a second for it to change.

Have this and the newer Mini 4. It's ok for what it does but don't expect to much. I like the Mini 4 since it's a little bigger and runs the newer software.

I bought this last year after coming from an Apple Watch Series 3. These watches have their merit (especially battery life), but for those of you that are expecting an Apple Watch like experience that integrates well with your iPhone, you'd be better off spending a bit more for an older model. I ended up returning this for an older model and am much happier.

If you're not in the Apple ecosystem and don't have anything else to compare it to, you will be just fine with this.

YMMV.

Yeah the vibration on it is good for alarms, text and call notifications. The water resistance is also good. Mine went through a wash cycle along with the clothes (accidentally) and it was still working well.
I agree with the good water resistance. I've had mine for almost 2 years and it's been submerged for extended periods in pools, oceans, and water parks and still going strong.

I assume you have a Bip like mine with a trans reflective display. Those only use power when changing the display (like an e-ink display) so the battery life is a lot longer. That large battery life is why I'm sticking with my Bip S as long as I can. Combined with the Notify for Amazfit app I've customized it just the way I like it. I have different vibration patterns for different apps and even different people -- I can tell who texted me without having to even look at my watch

I've been wearing the original Amazfit Bip since January 2020. Still get almost a month of battery life before need to charge. I like how I can see the display all the time even with backlight turned completely off (transflective display). This is how it works for so long. I got Amazfit Neo for family members in 2022 which has similar transfelctive display and similar 1 month battery life. Unfortunately, Amazfit stopped making these transflective display smartwatche versions.
Thanks for clearing that up. I wasn't aware of the display differences. Mine has to the same type of display. Like e-ink in dark mode on mine. That also makes sense now as to why they have this long battery life. I am also sticking with this one because of it eventhough I am ready for something new just for the heck of it.

Is this fit a 8 year old boy's wrist?
I have small wrists which is why I got the Mini version. I think it's still going to be a little large on an 8 year old wrist. But besides going with something like a MiBand, this is probably the smallest properly working smartwatch you can find.

Does anyone know if this can tell the time over speaker like an iWatch?
No, it doesn't have a speaker.

Can I ask what battery percentage do you have at 14 days?

I have Amazfit bip of some kind that is older than yours, I use it for about the same things.
I get about 3-4 weeks.

Also time zones and alarms seem to work.
All settings for alarms on mine go through the Zepp app and the predecessor app, I forgot the name.
It depends a little bit. Probably between 5 and 15 percent?

On the GTS 2 Mini you can set the alarms directly on the watch. I like that feature a lot. It uses the time displayed on the watch, so as long as the watch is synced to the time zone you are in, it will go off at the correct time. The vibrate function wakes me up 19 out of 20 times. And that one time it doesn't, it wakes me up once it goes off again after the automatic snooze.

Can this be used as a tracker for kids?
No. If you are thinking like an Apple device with the findmy app or the Samsung equivalent, that is not the case.

Can you hook this up for a kid with no phone?
If a parent had the app on their phone, you could set it up for the kid and it would work fine I think. Obviously the child wouldn't get any notifications or updated weather or anything that needs syncing with a phone. You could sync it to your phone every few days and you would still get steps and heart rates etc.

Optimized as in: vibration disabled, heart rate monitoring disabled (during the day), oximeter disabled, no workout activity, standard notifications only (via sound), no all-day display.

The only "premium" feature I have set is the automatic display. I 100% fully charged my watch 12 hours ago. Now my battery is currently at 76%.

I fully expected to lose 15-20% battery at night for the robust sleep tracking features, but can't understand why I'm losing around 30% during my waking hours when I'm really only using it to check the time.
No, you shouldn't be using up 25% of your battery daily. Try reducing the heart monitor to once every 5 min instead of the default of every minute. Or turn it off to see if you have an improvement in your battery performance. Otherwise you might ask Amazfit for a replacement if there's no improvement.

You must have something turned on that is killing your battery. That is not normal.

First though, go to settings on your watch, then system and hit restart. Most problems are solved by doing that. If that doesn't change anything, do the same but do a factory reset. You'll have to set a few things back up again, but it may be worth it.

I have vibration turned on, it doesn't seem to impact battery life much. Even with a ton of messages and other notifications.

I did turn off the automatic display when you turn your wrist, I noticed that makes the display turn on a lot. That did help increase battery life.

Reduce your heart monitoring to 5 or even 10 minutes. See how that impacts battery life and if you're still happy with the results.

I have all the sleep monitoring turned off. After playing with it, I decided it's not worth it. It still displays your sleep and light and deep and REM sleep etc.

I also have stress monitoring turned off. I know when I'm stressed, I don't need the watch to tell me.

Either way, there are a lot of things you can play with so you can find a happy balance for battery life and what you want from the watch.

Wondering how does this compare to a Fitbit Charge 5? Someone in the family has Charge 5 that doesn't work anymore and is out of warranty (screen is either stuck on the Fitbit logo or it shows a red circle with a "X" in it -- reset procedures don't work. From my research, this indicates a failed firmware update).

Fitbit offered a 50% off code to buy a new watch on their site (excludes Fitbit Ace 3, Charge 6 and Google Pixel watches). So with this code, could get a Fitbit Luxe or Inspire 3 for $50. Or could get a Fitbit Sense 2 for $125 or a Fitbit Versa 4 for $100.

It seems this Amazfit GTS 2 Mini is most comparable to a Fitbit Versa 4. So is a Fitbit Versa 4 at $100 a better value than this $50 Amazfit?
