However I will wait until 10.31 for the news release to make a decision. The M1 will be good for years to come but wanted to see what the M3 can do.

And yes, the M3 is probably going to get announced on Halloween. I think Microcenter and other stores are already doing discounts on the prior generations to make room for the M3s. In a worst case scenario, I can always hit up the store and ask to do a price match within the next 15 days. Beyond that, pretty happy with my buy.

If space black was available on the $1599 mbp I'd go for that. Otherwise I think the m1 refurbs are still the way to go.
I'd be totally fine with the battery cycles and to a lesser extent, SSD writes, but the ding-scratch mess on the case was too much for me to ignore. In contrast, the 512gb 14" MBP was absolutely flawless, had 4 cycles on battery and 300 gb written on SSD (basically brand new in appearance). Of note, both Apple refurbs I got from Microcenter were shrink-wrapped and still in the outer brown shipping box.
After showing it to the MC manager, he was more than happy to hunt my original refurb back and cancel out the exchange lol.
