Ok... so in answering my own question, incase anyone is interested...

I called Blackstone direct regarding the model listed here. They said this is an older unit, but is still a great unit. To me, it looks like their current unit, and makes no difference to me (older, newer, current, etc). However, the call was mainly regarding the cover. The rep told me that if the unit does not come with the hooded cover, you cannot purchase and put it on yourself. The unit has to be made to handle the hooded cover, the hinging, and the weight distribution. She seemed geniune, so I believe her. Maybe someone has had a different experince, and I'd love to hear it.

With that said, this is a great price for this unit, especially with the hard cover. So, I'll be making the purchase anyways. But, thought some good info to share if this feature is important to you.

I'd go for this 60K BTU model. I think there's an advantage to having four 15K burners and being able to get the entire griddle searing hot, not just the sear burner. You can always lower the temp on a couple of them to create a cooler zone if you choose. My Blue Rhino Razor is 62K total (three 14K and one 20K sear), but only the right-hand burner gets hot, the three others not so much. It takes forever to heat the grill up.

Do some of the BS models have the grease drain in the back, and some in the front? And... if so, which is generally preferred? I would think the front drain is better, but never had a griddle before, so would not know any better. Considering buying this one.

UPDATE: Actually... now that I look further into it, looks like maybe the rear grease trap is better. Out of the way, I guess?

Doesn't seem like the Costco or version with the hood will get this low. Seems like a good sacrifice vs the price. The front shelf on the costco version is a nice add

Bought this exact one from TSC last year for my brother-in-law. He has used it 4-5 times a week, every week since then. He loves it and has had no issues with it. He can also cook one mean steak on it. Pretty sure he has cooked me and the wife (his sister) more steak than we paid for this unit. Not to mention the quality chats we've had while standing around it. Absolutely worth it.

Oh my gosh, yes, the back is better. I'm actually buying this one with a rear grease trap and am going to sell mine with a side grease trap. The side one is terrible. Mine has a small V-shaped valley on the front that runs slightly downhill to the trap on the right side. The problem is that when you try to direct the grease toward the front of the grill, it inevitably splashes over the front and onto my apron and the deck. It's also impossible to scrape all the grease out of the V-shaped valley. It's a disaster, so I'm taking this opportunity to get a rear grease trap now at such a good price!

I have both this 60k btu model and the Walmart 38k btu model. I didn't even realize they had different heat outputs until reading this thread, but that explains why I'm so disappointed in the Walmart model's performance. The 60k will heat the entire griddle to screaming hot very fast. The 38k won't even heat the edges hot enough to season properly, much less sear anything. Buy this fantastic deal, some wind guards and a little more gas.

This is the cheapest I've seen since Walmart had it for $197 on sale a while back.

Go to Dollar Tree and buy the stainless steel Chopper/Scrapers, hang them on the lip of the girddle, they block the heat. $1.25 each, 3 each per side & if wind is a problem put 4 in the back. I've used these for 3 years, no hot side shelves, nothing melted.
how do you get them to stay, or do they just rest on there while cooking?

They hang on by the curled top.

Do not honor warranty when you get a "deal." Have the emails to prove if anyone wants to see. They lie and say no parts are available and then they will offer parts at a discounted price. Garbage was less than a year old.
