Actually the "V" rated is for a higher speed (150 mph) rating than "H" (130 mph) , it does not necessarily mean it's a stronger tire, its the compound in the tired thread is better at gripping the road.

Now between the reliant line of tires and assurance tires, the assurance would more than likely be the "stronger" tire as they have more wear life, and a thicker sidewall.

DOH, I already bought 2x Reliant back in May, I think it was a rollback to $90 for 215/55R17. And I got another 3x Kumho LX Platinum KU27 for $81. My timing was really off because the old Pirelli was dry rotting and they struggle on hard stop they wobble like crazy. I was not feeling good so I replaced them all. When it comes to look, I love Goodyear tires, these are USA made tire. Well, they're very sloppy made if you ask me but beautiful tire nevertheless. Performance wise, I love them. I will never buy Pirelli P7, Michellin Primary MXV4, and Bridgestone Turanza EL400 again due to ridiculous prices / terrible performance and I also avoid cheaper brands like the ones sold on Ebay, they don't brake ontime and they have higher chances of buckle, Of all American made tires, the Reliant have the fattest grooves measured at 10-11-11-10 mm which is about 50% fatter than Pirelli, Michellin, and Bridgestone. I take measurement very seriously because of the factory Bridgestone that came with my Camry almost gotten me killed while driving on highway 90 during a monsoon rain, the car hydroplaned on me. The Kumho is even better than Goodyear, measured at 13-11-11-13 making it them the FATTEST grooves of all season tires. They're made in S. Korea using latest technology. You can tell when buying tire, always pay attention to the DOT date (week of year then year when it was manufactured), it tells you when the tire is made. ALWAYS BUY FRESH TIRE BASED ON THE DOT!!! Whether you drive them or not, you can NOT drive tires that are past 5 years old. Pirelli stinx they don't make it past 4 years - avoid Pirelli. And secondly always stay away from tires that have yellow or red dots, those tires are manufactured from older technology. New technology do not stamp yellow or red dots so you can just mount anyway you like, otherwise remember yellow only dot means you align it to TPMS, if yellow & red then red at TPMS. I just don't like older technology, confirmed both Goodyear Reliant and Kumho LX Platinum Ectasy is made using newest technology. No - the bar code doesn't count. Btw, I do my own installation and balance, super easy but recommend if you are DIY'er, you want to buy tires made from advanced countries that are using latest technology. Always always remember to scrub rim bead area. Patient, it'll take a whole bottle of 91% rubber alchohol to clean them out. When you're paying someone to do it, they know you can't see so nobody bother scrubbing down gummed up bead for you. 1 out of every 10 tires reviews claimed to have experienced blowout, I'm guessing it was due to quick installation. When you do your own install, you have the the time so spend it wisely, slow is fast. Oh yeah so for the tire driving experience, Reliant is very noisy on old road especially over cement, they're LOUD!!!! The Kumho is SILENT. Both don't hydroplane and have EXCELLENT braking stop comparing to the other garbages I've driven. Both handle well under hard brake, I experienced zero steering wheel shake unlike the junk Pirelli. Straight out of the box, Reliant is measurement evenly at exactly 11/32 from left to right but Kumho has uneven spot man I don't understand Kumho's logic maybe this explains why they're SOOO QUIET - ugly tires but EXCELLENT performer. Oh and btw, another benefit of doing your own tires is TPMS sensor replacement. Including spare so that's 5 tires + 4 new TPMS sensors costing me under $500 with taxes. TPMS is where tire store gets you but I think I need to stop. I'm rambling here...

I'm from northern Los Angeles here. Reliant is perfect. Here in the southwest it doesn't matter of the mileage. You need to replace your tires every 5 years due to dry rot. People back east can get away with higher number. Here, remember it's 5 years. Do the math, if you drive a lot go with Assurance. Otherwise, go with Reliant. But due the math first. Even if you don't do your own tires, if you want to prolong any tires. Always always spray them down with 303 fomula on every oil change - assuming you do your own oil then yes you'll need to put them on jack, let 303 marinate for 24hrs. Never ever spray it on the bead if you do the installation. 303 won't stop dry rot but it will slow them down. And 100% positively confirmed will slow down thread wear. I get 60K every 5 years doing this method on 11/32 rated tires while spraying 303 at every 5K oil change interval. Give it a try, get the whole gallon it's about $60 buck and it lasts forever.

PS another gent said Reliant doesn't do good in the rain. That's not true, Reliant is fantastic in the rain, it comes with extra fatty groove measured at 10-11-11-10mm which is twice the size of every other similar tires. Enabling it to evacuate water twice the speed. Now that doesn't mean you should drive recklessly, when it rains, remember to slow down. One thing I don't like about Reliant is comfort, it's very noisy on older pavement. Reliant might be overkilled if you only drive 20miles per day. You can save even more money with 9/32 tires like USA made Douglas.

This is incredible! Thank you for the detailed response and totally makes sense - the reliant comes down close to 60$/tire with this deal so thought of going down that route - one thing to add though and I'm not sure if that adds a damper to this whole thing - I have a e-Golf (fully electric) and I'm guessing since it's heavier, that might change a few things if using the reliants?

You're welcome, wait for the deal. Don't jump the gun. Head to the store and see if they thrown in free installation. Last year it was deal + free installation. I do my own installation so it doesn't matter for me. If you don't mind dealing with Wally legendary customer service lol GL. Make sure it's free.

Both comments here say that the Reliant is very noisy. Is it very bad for EV since the engine component is running silent? I have a Bolt EUV.
