Not good for spoken word, or acoustic instruments without heavy eq'ing. It's got a lot of heat in the upper mids and treble.
You need a SM58. $99 standard price, universally loved by everyone.

SM58 is actually very capable for podcasting, livestreaming and recording. I've used this along with the Samson Q2U, Rode Podmic, SM7b and RE20. All very good mics at their respective price points but unless you're a very discerning listener and wanting that premium studio recording, it won't make much of a difference on platforms like youtube, twitch, etc.
Absolutely correct and I say this as a SM7b daily user and someone who fields a lot of audio tech questions.

The SM58 is all any streamer/YouTuber/podcaster, etc.. needs but they never listen and waste money on a worse mic, especially if doing video because they want a mic that looks "cooler" or "professional". But whatever it's their money.

SM58 is overkill for those applications. With everything getting compressed you don't need an expensive mic, just settle with an SM58 clone like the Behringer XM8500, it's $15 on a bad day and sounds dam close to the SM58

Just go and buy a Shure MV7 USB/XLR used somewhere for $150ish. Or if you have the $300 to spend go with a Shure SM7B. If you're speaking/streaming and doing any content creation, these are the two mics to have. The former MV7 is a perfect starting point.

I suppose that's true. I think I would actually rather record (even vocals) with an sm57 than an sm58.

Not for recording 🤷 ♂️
he said singing, not recording. sm58 is the answer until you go into the $200+ range.

What does the address in the front mean? Can you not have the address in the back? 🤔

I came to throw a grenade by asking "how is this better than the Behringer Xm8500" but I see I've been beaten to the punch

That's all I need to hear. I subscribe to only two accounts on Youtube... Rick Beato and Bandrew's Podcastage.

Can anyone recommend a good mic that can connect to tablets for recording singing and playing the piano?
You're looking for an interface, not a mic. IK or Presonus USB interfaces will work. Then you'll be able to use just about any XLR mic. SM57 and SM58.

I need one that can act as an ambisonic mic, ya know, record the sounds of a swamp and catch the buzz and chirps.

I am not sure how you can make such a blanket statement. There are way too many variables in recording to do so. Variables including the room, room treatment, preamps and the person and/or instrument that you are recording. I have a large mic collection and this mic sounds fantastic on some voices. I've also recorded acoustic guitars that sat great in their mixes with this mic.
