I have both the Werner 6' Aluminum and 6' fiberglass. I initially purchased the aluminum one with light weight being the selling point. It is light and stable. The fiberglass one is not much heavier but feels much more substantial. The Aluminum one is not unsafe, by any means, just not as beefy. The weight difference is small enough that if I had to do it over again, I would have just gone with the fiberglass version.

I wish I did. It was on a sign with the ladders in the aisle. I needed a fiberglass and not aluminum so I didn't look into it while I was there

Couldn't find anything online. Something to be on the lookout for in store, though. Thank you!

Yeah, I looked too and didn't see it. The 4ft ladders and 6ft were next to each other and the sign was on a chain that spanned the whole section that the ladders were behind.

Stay away from aluminum if planning to do any electrical work.

Fully agree. I tried both out in store and the aluminum one was not very stable. I would go so far as to say it didn't feel safe to me unless you are on perfectly level ground and you are careful with maintaining your balance. It could easily fall over with you on it if you are reaching overhead and not careful. Get the fiberglass one for sure. The fiberglass was 30 dollars more at home depot but it looks like it's the same price at lowes.

This is perfect to replace smoke detectors battery upstairs. God I hate trying to carry our heavy one when my dog is freaking out by the alarm.
