I've been watching far too many A95L reviews and the consensus seems to be top of the class but so expensive. I need 55" so this is an intriguing deal.

What's the advantage of this one over the G3/S95C/S90C? I'm only familiar with LG and Samsung OLEDs primarily.

It has a year one QD OLED panel from Samsung. It'll have better upscaling, motion handling, and picture processing than those TVs. The 2nd year QD OLED panels found on the A95L improve on those features and it should be more resilient to burn in, but they're super expensive.

From what I read this is one of the best TV you can buy. I currently have a Sony TV and love it, but want to upgrade to OLED. So I'd chose Sony over some of the competition like Samsung with its s95c. Here's a sniper from rtings.

The Sony A95K is an incredible TV for most uses. It looks remarkable in dark rooms because it displays deep blacks without any blooming around bright objects, and HDR content looks remarkable thanks to its vivid colors and bright highlights with near-perfect tone mapping. It's impressive for watching TV shows and excellent for watching sports in well-lit rooms because it has incredible reflection handling, but any bright light source also causes the black levels to raise. It's incredible for gaming as it has a near-instantaneous response time, variable refresh rate (VRR) support, and HDMI 2.1 bandwidth. Even though its input lag is higher than other TVs, it's still low enough for gaming.

Thank you for the heads up. I just went from a C1 to a 77" S90C and I'm loving it. Crazy to think this one is higher quality.

No problem. Sony OLEDs will always carry a hefty premium because they're best in class. I hope Sony eventually supports 4x HDMI 2.1 ports because HDMI 2.1 receiver support is spotty. I hope you're able to enjoy your S90C for years to come.

Excuse my ignorance, can you plug in a HDMI 2.1 hub and use that? Now you have as many HDMI ports as you need.

77 inch s90c has 2nd gen panel, not 1st gen. Also my 55 inch s90c also has 2nd gen (all 77 inch ones do, but only some 55 and 65 inch ones). The sony just gets brighter and also has better processing, so better clarity.

I am so tempted on this deal, but I'd have to return the samsung and get refunded my gift cards and then the a95k would probably be off sale by then.

edit: also samsung doesn't support dolby vision or dts audio.

edit2: oops. I kept thinking this was the A95L. The A95K is NOT the best tv. The L is. The A95K is 1st gen panel, the 77s90c is 2nd gen. The A95K is NOT going to be noticeably better, other than in processing and that's about it.

L is the newer model. To me k is the better deal for anyone looking to get into OLED, 55 L is almost the same price as the 65k.

yeah, as far as better deal it is. I just mean purely performance. I am honestly pretty shocked that people pay what sony is charging for the L. the s90c and s95c are not THAT much worse and cost literally half the price as the L. but at this price for the K, I'd be at least tempted. I tried a sony a90k, and even with it being woled instead of qdoled it had some nice processing and made lower resolution content look great. So far on the S90C hdr looks good, but sdr is not looking good at this point.

Sad to say, in terms of motion handling, QD-OLED and LCD are in the same sorry class. Yes there is a range, but the top level of the class still remains modest.

I managed to get the 55 inch version of this A95K Tv for $780 this past spring , new but in a heavily damaged box. I took a gamble and am glad I did as the tv was in perfect condition. I'm not a videophile type guy, the tv this replaced was a TCL 65R646 I got last Black Friday which I thought had good picture, but even I could tell the difference between the two was night and day. The colors, brightness, and clarity of the image of the Sony put that Tv to shame. And when playing games, phenomenal picture and motion handling with the PS5 and series X. Absolutely love it. Now would I ever pay even close to retail for it? Absolutely not. I think its retail is absurd and no one should pay that price for any TV. But if you can find a deal on the a95k like this one and have the funds for it, by all means get it and you will not be disappointed. Side note the remote is the perfect size and its motion activated backlight is a huge plus. Also do check the TVs screen for damage to it's anti glare coating. Sony didn't put a screen protector film on these TVs for some reason and if they get jostled around in transit the styrofoam can mark that coating up pretty badly. I got the 65 inch version as well and it's screen coating was badly marked up all over. The only consolation is that when the Tv is on playing content you can't really see the marks. Lastly the UI can be a little sluggish at times. Otherwise love the TV.

You can, but I'd rather have it built into the TV. I haven't used an HDMI 2.1 Hub or switch so I can't recommend them. Hubs or switches tend to add additional latency as well. Lastly some features like Dolby Vision gaming may not be supported if you care about that.

I recently bought the Denon AVR-S970H to pair with my QN95C because it has three additional HDMI 2.1 inputs. I originally connected my XSX to the receiver because I ran out of HDMI 2.1 ports on my TV. I previously had my gaming PC, Apple TV 4K, PS5, and AVR connected to my TV.

I constantly ran into issues where my Xbox would switch from 4K120, VRR with ALLM to 4K60. Whenever I would try to switch it back, I'd receive the message that 4K120 isn't support which would lead to countless troubleshooting. Switching HDMI 2.1 cables, changing and updating settings on my receiver, changing settings on the Xbox, and finally changing settings on my TV. Sometimes I'd get it to work, and sometimes it wouldn't. I finally said screw it, and connected my XSX directly to my TV while my Apple TV 4K is connected directly to my receiver. Those issues aren't present with my other consoles connected directly to the TV. My XSX is my least used console, but I keep it around for various Game Pass that aren't available on PC Game Pass and Rock Band.

This may not be indicative of everyone's experience with HDMI 2.1 receivers or switches, but it's quite frustrating. If I relied on a receiver for constant HDMI 2.1 passthrough, I'd have to try multiple receivers and hoped they worked. For my money, I'll always lean towards TV that have 4x HDMI 2.1 ports.
