The throwback part is the fact that they are magnetically shielded so your crt monitor won't bug out on you. I would imagine there are youngsters out there that never had the scare of temporarily magnetizing their expensive monitor and freaking out LOL.
Boy do I miss that degauss twang….

There's some irony here recommending Logitech speakers which from an audio sound quality perspective are never to be used. Bose at least is an audio company. Logitech is not.
No, I don't think so. I think the real tragedy is that you conflate the modern Bose name with a quality audio brand. Logitech makes okay entry level computer speakers, and that's really what these Bose speakers are too. Just cheap entry level computer speakers. There are only two things I credit Bose with. One is building wild waveguides to make shitty small speakers sound passable, and two is marketing an upscale lifestyle brand, under the guise of a premium audio brand, to those that don't look at things objectively.

I'd also point out that I am not pushing a recommendation for the Logitech speakers. The Z333 is just a much better value of similar build quality to these Bose units that took less than 10 seconds to look up. It would trounce the Bose in performance. With the Bose, the fundamental of an E-string on a bass guitar would be nearly inaudible. With the Z333, you'd at least have the choice of hearing lower frequencies if you wanted to.

If I just wanted small stereo towers, I'd shell out for some cheap active studio monitors (e.g. Edifier MR4s). For $70, Bose people end up with 4.5W max ouput speakers with a 2" paper or polypropylene driver in a plstic case. The Edifier route route would end up with a 1" silk dome tweeter and a 4" mica-composite woofer in an MDF box. One can decide what the difference is worth, but it's a no brainer to me.

$30 less than Amazon. If you are not gaming on your PC, these speakers are fantastic. Bass heads...not so much.

Good speakers for a great price. Not sure you can find anything better below $100.

And for the stereo naysayers, i was tired of my 5.1 PC setup taking up so much space around the room. The sub's footprint and volume alone was larger than my PC case. I also realized i mainly use my headset and the speakers were mainly for music when i wasn't gaming.
I rely heavily on 5.1 to know where spacer ships are landing in Starfield

Output is 4.5 watts per channel, but that's pretty useless information without considering several other factors. What's the speakers sensitivity? Are we talking RMS wattage? What's the amp?

A speaker rated at 90dB sensitivity will produce 90dB at 1 meter off a single watt of power. That's already ear damaging levels. I would not suggest worrying much about wattage. I'd rather consider how the speaker system performs.

From a performance standpoint, these will get plenty loud. Bose really doesn't like to admit what their components or stats are as they are often not competitive at the price range. This is Bose's answer to your quesiton:

"Thanks for the question. Some specifications such as speaker wattage are not published for our products. The reason these specifications are not published is that we do not feel they give an accurate representation of how the product will sound in a real application. That being said, the maximum power consumption for this product is 4.5 W."

Not a bad deal for BOSE speakers, but I don't want more wires for my desktop setup. I use bluetooth speakers or headphones.

ive had these for literally 10 years (bought these back when they first came out in 2013). They still work and do exactly what I need them to do. sound great for what it is. No complaints.
My Logitech Z-2300's just finally kicked the bucket (well, the right speaker has a blown cone or something). I bought them 18 years ago on Amazon (still can see the receipt). That's why I'm in this thread Smilie

I have this exact set, I got them from BestBuy for $100 in like 2019. I am still using them. I am by no means an audiophile, but these are a solid set for basic use. I even went through a period of turning them up all the way to listen to music XD, and the speakers on them haven't blown.

I will say wearing headphones/earbuds I often turn the dial on the speakers thinking they will change the sound on my headset tho

The system has existed since late 90s, isn't it? it's such an amazing classic design I have never owned. Maybe this is the time.

Exactly how much you would expect lol.

I have a logitech z series 5.1 which I use only because I got it dirt cheap on clearance. It's good but if I were to buy new speakers I'd go for the klipsch 2.1. They are by far the best bang for your buck pc speakers imo. Completely blow these bose out of the water.
