Yes I can eyeball the temperature of a fifteen pound brisket just once during a eight hour cook.
I have the 3 probe version, same size, just has an extra charge port for the 3rd probe (From Sam's for $150). Works well within probably 10-15 ft of the grill, but drops to half the distance when it has to go through a house wall. The ambient temperature is somewhat accurate, but becomes less so at higher temps. I asked about it from the company, they said the food temperature affects the ambient temperature reading, and to test it in boiling water. The ambient and "meat" temperatures were almost identical in boiling water and at room temperature on the counter, so it was just a result of the way it was designed I guess. I just use ambient as a guide to make sure my smoker is still working (not out of pellets or having a jam). I have never used a Meater.
Being able to cook a 15lb brisket in 8 hours is even more impressive.

How far off was the ambient temp reporting? I'd rather have two separate but accurate wireless probes, one for ambient and one for the protein itself. Currently using wired Thermoworks probes but wireless would be a solid upgrade.

I enjoy this for the most part. I shared my thoughts in a write up here: https://graymatterlifting.com/che...er-review/

WiFi works well, never had an issue of it disconnecting. Would recommend you set a custom notification for the app so you don't miss anything. And it can be troublesome if you plan to do TWO long cooks at one time, because you can only charge one probe at a time.

Can I use it for the BBQ Grill? I have a kettle grill, and I used to cook various meats such as Ribeye, Tri-tip, Beef Rib, Etc. It looks great, but I wonder if it is safe to use in a BBQ grill because of the high temperature.

These have a max temp of around 560 degrees. Meater just released a new probe that goes over 900, which is better for grilling if you run it hot. These ChefIQ probes are also short, so the ambient temp (the outside tip) has the reading impacted by being so close to the meat. That's where the Meater is better. I also have the Meater block with 4 probes, and the connectivity via WiFi has never been an issue, even when I'm miles away picking up groceries. Much prefer that over the inconsistent Bluetooth connectivity.

Great product and great price, but do they really last if you use them at high temperatures? They are rated at 300°C, and normal electronics can operate up to 125°C while batteries and capacitors even less. Can anyone explain if this is real, and just how it is possible? I ask this as an Electrical Engineer
