I'm new to the WiFi Mesh systems in general. Does anybody have any experience with this brand/model?

Have a previous Orbi set up sold around 2020 (RBF750 base, two RBS750) from Costco. It has been pretty damn good. I think the newer models have even some additional set up options not necessarily available on something like I have. Most likely overkill, but some A/B testing showed some decent speed increases (around 40% over wifi) over a previous non-mesh solution I had.

Personally, I'd go for Google Wi-Fi. I used it before and loved the features, like device control and setting Wi-Fi schedules. I've been using Orbi since 2021, and while the speed is excellent (I get up to 480 Mbps on my 0.5 Gb internet), the software updates can be buggy. The app crashed four times (I mean it won't work for couple of days and one time for a week and I had paused internet on kids devices) in the last couple of years. Orbi expects you to subscribe for basic features, which is a hassle. Since Google now has Wi-Fi 6 routers, I wouldn't choose Orbi. Just my two cents!

I have netgear mesh system. It works well. The only crappy part is it's inability to disable 5Ghz so that I can connect smart devices (most of them don't support 5Ghz). The newer models support that.

heard you have to pay for sub to use a lot of basic functions

Also heard the deco kind of sucks because of the auto sense lan/wan port causing issues

On sale for $450 through 2/18/2024. Inflation?

My own 2¢, only get this if you know absolutely nothing about networks, networking, and wifi. These devices (orbi) are dumbed down to the least common denominator, exposing as few options as possible to the end user.
