Bought the Q Revo a few months ago when it was on sale for $800 and it is completely worth it in my opinion. We moved into a home with hardwood floors and we run it every two days. It does a fantastic job picking up regular dust and sweeps pretty well into the corners. The lidar and tracking system is very accurate and you can even program it to clean in the same orientation as your hardwood floors per each room. I especially like that it vacuums and mops in hard to reach places like under the bed and couch.
We do spend about 3 mins in the morning picking things off the ground so the Revo can do a thorough job cleaning the rooms. We have yet to change the vacuum bag and adding more water and dumping the dirty water is done about once a week. We can tell that the mopping function is doing its job well because before the used water used to be pretty dirty, but quickly it's turned into just slightly murky water due to its constant use. Once a month or two months it notifies you that the cleaning/drying tray should be cleaned, which is just running it through water.
What I don't like about it is that it doesn't do a good job tracking cords and sometimes gets caught up and stops. We've fixed that problem by taping the cords to the walls.
Can we do a better job vacuuming and mopping manually? Of course... But we don't clean every two days and with both parents working and having a 2.5 yo child, the revo has been very helpful to our family.
That's only for the initial return period I assume? I did get one from Amazon .. mailing it to China for any warranty related issues sounds insane!
Yes, it should only be for the initial return period, which is typically 30 days (extended for holiday period now though). I'm hoping my credit card warranty will just reimburse me for a replacement I buy from Costco. I think I'm done w/ dealing w/ these companies with zero US support or repair centers.
Is there a recommendation for only mopping hardwood floors? I already have a Roborock I'm happy with for vacuuming.
Just mopping for good price is the Revo but has slightly worse obstacle avoidance. But it is best bang for your bucks for sure. Next up is the S7 which does have slightly better obstacle avoidance but pricer. But then the Revo is simpler, less costly, slightly better at mopping and it is quicker (simpler) to clean as well. The S8 is tricky since it has improvements but some say not enough to justify the cost. The s8 performs better in carpets and gets tangled up in hair less. They all seem to perform the same in mopping with small edge going with the revo surprisingly, and i mean small edge not like the others don't clean. They all navigate and avoid obstacles so you don't have to worry too much.
