Bought the Q Revo a few months ago when it was on sale for $800 and it is completely worth it in my opinion. We moved into a home with hardwood floors and we run it every two days. It does a fantastic job picking up regular dust and sweeps pretty well into the corners. The lidar and tracking system is very accurate and you can even program it to clean in the same orientation as your hardwood floors per each room. I especially like that it vacuums and mops in hard to reach places like under the bed and couch.
We do spend about 3 mins in the morning picking things off the ground so the Revo can do a thorough job cleaning the rooms. We have yet to change the vacuum bag and adding more water and dumping the dirty water is done about once a week. We can tell that the mopping function is doing its job well because before the used water used to be pretty dirty, but quickly it's turned into just slightly murky water due to its constant use. Once a month or two months it notifies you that the cleaning/drying tray should be cleaned, which is just running it through water.
What I don't like about it is that it doesn't do a good job tracking cords and sometimes gets caught up and stops. We've fixed that problem by taping the cords to the walls.
Can we do a better job vacuuming and mopping manually? Of course... But we don't clean every two days and with both parents working and having a 2.5 yo child, the revo has been very helpful to our family.
As I said, it's not for you, so don't buy it. It's that simple. Not sure why you are being so argumentative.
You can now buy Q Revo white/black for $679 from Roborock and Amazon.

Just a warning in Roborock in general. Their warranty support is terrible. They will push you back to the retailer, i.e. Amazon, Woot, etc. If you need warranty through Roborock, they will make you ship it (on your own dime) to China. Their support is China based, so you'll be lucky to get a response once every day or two, in the middle of the night in the USA. My S5 Max broke (software error loop) after 18 months randomly. No physical damage and sensors regularly cleaned. It just won't boot up.
Crazy considering how much you're paying here. I'd stick w/ Costco from now on and buy Shark or iRobot.
Yes, it's best to buy from US based stores such as Amazon, Lowes, etc. They will at least take your returns and deal with it for you.
That's only for the initial return period I assume? I did get one from Amazon .. mailing it to China for any warranty related issues sounds insane!
Yes, it should only be for the initial return period, which is typically 30 days (extended for holiday period now though). I'm hoping my credit card warranty will just reimburse me for a replacement I buy from Costco. I think I'm done w/ dealing w/ these companies with zero US support or repair centers.
Is there a recommendation for only mopping hardwood floors? I already have a Roborock I'm happy with for vacuuming.
Just mopping for good price is the Revo but has slightly worse obstacle avoidance. But it is best bang for your bucks for sure. Next up is the S7 which does have slightly better obstacle avoidance but pricer. But then the Revo is simpler, less costly, slightly better at mopping and it is quicker (simpler) to clean as well. The S8 is tricky since it has improvements but some say not enough to justify the cost. The s8 performs better in carpets and gets tangled up in hair less. They all seem to perform the same in mopping with small edge going with the revo surprisingly, and i mean small edge not like the others don't clean. They all navigate and avoid obstacles so you don't have to worry too much.
I'm looking to replace my Q7 Max with a model that does a better job identifying and avoiding dog poop on hard wood floors. Does this model have the necessary intelligence? Is there a better alternative? Thank you.
I have the S7 MaxV Ultra that CLAIMS to be the best at this - it is currently sitting embedded in dog poop while I wait for an answer from Roborock โฆโฆ
You probably shouldn't own a nice or car newer than 2002 if you don't have public transit since there is no difference between getting from points to b.
That said the dreame L20 just replaced the s7v max ultra as best combo vac for those with the extra money. These are amazing machine for those with the money but they aren't for everyone or every house.
With 2 dogs this is a huge time saver and worth the cash and forgoing eating out for a while to recoup the money spent. The time saved is worth it for my use case.

Thanks so much. I did some reading about it but your post sums it up very well and succinctly. Appreciate the advice!
I have 2 S6's (main and second floor) and 1 S5 (basement). Is the S8 really an upgrade? They've been running daily for years now with minimal part replacement. Aside from the dock auto empty, price seem astronomically different.

I have S7 with dock. I just bought S8 pro ultra and have been using it for about two weeks. I don't see difference in vacuuming hard wood floor. It's just that auto mop washing function that's crazy good I would recommend S7 Ultra Max for lower price but similar functionality.
I have the S7MaxV Ultra. Love it for the most part, cleaned floors great, super easy, great app features. But we definitely had some struggles:
* The robot water tank develops leaks. You have to coat the little rubber seals with vegetable oil using a cotton swap occasionally (nothing tells you this until you learn the hard way.) Had to send for repairs when it drowned itself and would no longer take a charge, turn or, or communicate in any way. Ultimately decided I would only vacuum and mop separately after that to minimize risks of it vacuuming units only water tank leaks.
*The dock is hard to clean. Sure pull the filter and wash it using easy, but you also need to get down on the ground and wash the area under the filter, take out the little brush, clean all the brush area, etc - and it all stinks like sewage. If you don't do this OFTEN, your dirty water tank will also stink badly.
*It does NOT avoid pet ๐ฉ. Roborock will tell you it is NOT in the warranty and that no AI is perfect and they are learning and improving with every firmware update. (Notice they no longer sell it or anything with the V video feature, so not sure how many more updates it will have.)
So I just received the Q Revo - Home Depot had on sale for $699 and their 10% military discounts still applies to sales. (Had it in my cart at $679, then said out of stock before could order, available next day for $699. ๐คท๐ผ close enough))
Seems to work comparable to the S7 MaxV Ultra for a LOT cheaper. What I have noticed:
* Dock is better designed. Looks nice instead of so industrial/shop like.
* Entire dock base pulls out for easy cleaning. No more down on the floor scrubbing tiny places! So will be easy to clean with each water tank empty/refill.
* Water tanks are larger. But the plastic is not as thick and sturdy. Don't use hot water in them for sure - it even warns you it could warp them. But have seen people complain that the other tanks broke easily if dropped, maybe this softer plastic doesn't shatter as easily? Not gonna try it!
* LOVE the 2 spinning mops. They are textured. Much better at cleaning and not leaving streaks. We have mostly all LVT downstairs.
* DO have to watch out better for keeping cords and shoelaces out of reach. Without the camera, they are just too small for it to detect.
The S7MaxV and its stinky self (pet ๐ฉ not covered by warranty and you can only take it apart so much) will be reassigned to the upstairs where it can vacuum stinky cat litter scatters and clean kid bathrooms.
Note - I had bought a refurbished Q5 while the S7 was being repaired. It did okay on vacuuming, but could not handle our pet fur as well at all - gathered up and redeposited little piles of fur around the house instead of sucking it up.
My son has it now in his 1-bedroom apartment with no pets and he absolutely LOVES it. Says his floors have never been cleaner. So the Q5 is great if no pets, but can't handle fur like the S7 or Q Revo.
I'm wondering why in Russia, taking into account bonuses from sellers, S8 will cost $650 with taxes and S7 costs $510. Is shipping to the USA so expensive or does the USA charge some kind of duties?

How does the dreame l20 compare?
