Jeep is a terrible brand in terms of of reliability.

I send my oil to Blackstone Labs to have an analysis done after every oil change. Their experts told me that time is of no worry nowadays with modern oil. The only thing that matters is the mileage.

340k miles on my 03' Toyota Tacoma…my advise: just change the oil no matter what brand (within reason) every 5k or less because it doesn't cost that much to do so…this oil is made by Warren Oil Co btw

The reason for the manufacturers touting 10k intervals is to keep annual maintenance costs down.

And if you look at the fine print it will tell you that this is NOT for severe usage. Unless you're driving strictly highway miles in a moderate climate never idling the engine etc. most people fall under the severe category.

Change your oil every 5k. With a 4 banger engine it only cost me like $25 - $30 to do this myself with quality filter and quality synthetic oil that meets the specs my engine calls for

12 months or up to 10k miles whichever comes first.
Yes the manual will tell you every 10000 miles but that my friends is to get you through the warranty period NOT to get long life out of your motor.

Just go by what is stated in your vehicle's owner's manual. My Jeep tells me to use full synthetic and change it once a year or at 10,000 miles. I trust the engineers who build the vehicle more than anyone else.
Oh, you mean the manufacturers that tell you to use 0W-16 in the U.S. while telling the rest of the world to use 5W-40 to 20W-50 in some cases? Yeah, I bet they're trustworthy. So trustworthy that they're cutting every possible corner, even crucial ones, for the sake of 0.0001% fuel economy gains. These newbie threads are always hilarious.

One acronym: CAFE. Corporate Average Fuel Economy.

The sooner you all learn how toxic it is in the U.S., the sooner you'll distrust the manufacturers and take vehicle care into your own hands.

Does anyone actually believe transmissions are "sealed and require no maintenance for the lifetime of the unit" still? Or does anyone remember Ford back-spec'ing countless 5W-30 vehicles to 5W-20 back in the early 2000s? CAFE is why. It has absolutely nothing to do with the vehicle's best interest. It's purely politics and money.

Signed, banned BITOG alum.

That's what they want you to think so you end buying a new car every 3/4years. Almost every mechanic recommends an oil change interval of no more that 5000 for full synthetic and 3000 for conventional if you want you engine to last any longer. It amazes me that people actually believe manufacturers recommendation that's bare minimum. They don't want you car to last longer because nobody will get a new car if it won't have any issues.
Mechanics are the ones making money off you.

More oil changes = more chances of oil drain plug and pan getting cracked from over tightening. Once a year or 10k miles is the way to go. Less chances of car falling on your face due to Jack stand failure also.
Eh - little too general. Especially for "older" cars; MFG tolerances were not what they are today. Go by what the MFG recommends.

Also driving a Tacoma but a 2019 with the 2.7l 2TR-FE? a 4 cylinder they have been making for decades I believe. It is known to be exceedingly reliable. I remember reading somewhere that the service lif of it is 300k but can get far more than that with proper care and maintenance.

not with one of these… and I can get to my oil changes without any jacks… but good point for some. Ramps might be a good option that don't have the access.

415k miles on my 06 Toyota Tundra. Changed my oil every 10k miles using whatever 5w-30 synthetic is on sale. Starts instantly still.

That's funny you actually trust the reliability of a jeep 🤣
