For example local restaurant here charges 10% higher prices on Doordash. Doordash fees and taxes on my example order without Dash Pass are 15% higher than local sales tax. That means even at 20% off you're still paying a bit more than you would for normal delivery.
Now on the other hand if you have Dashpass (for example I have it for free with credit card) the value proposition here is a little better because the fees may be drastically reduced (5% above local sales tax in this case). So that puts you a bit ahead.
You can also avoid Doordash fees entirely on pick-up orders. This is the easiest way to come out ahead without Dash Pass. And you avoid having to tip also.
You can also come out ahead if you stack this with restaurant offers or other Doordash discount promos that occasionally come up.
