Free offline GPS maps with tons of trails and waypoints. Haven't used Alltrails for years since I started using that.
The key point of an app like this is to download maps and use them offline which is not available under Gaia free membership. You need premium subscription to do that.

My neighborhood has mapped out miles of trails in our woods but they aren't listed on AllTrails. Would I be able to save those with the premium app? I've submitted them to AllTrails but nothing ever came of it. Would love to share the trails with my family and friends.

Looks like Maps.Me is $33 a year to download more than 10 maps at once and get hiking trails.

Believe that's new, but you can download the maps you want/need and then delete when you no longer need them (travel). The average state is 3 or less maps so 10 maps can cover multiple states for most peoples use. California has the most maps at 12, so you can cover just about the entire state for free.

I've been using it for years and never once had more than 5 maps at a time and that's only cause I forgot to delete the maps when I was no longer in that state.

I've been using this App for 2 years and like it a lot. But I'll let mine expires on November 30, and resubscribe only when a deal like this comes along later.

My subscription expired today and I was able to renew it with the coupon code for $17.99.

anymore info on this? i'd like to learn more.

Also can you still "navigate" and record your trail with the free version i.e. it records your miles and saves the exact route you take on a selected route?
