Yea, there isn't a direct correlation at times for a size on sale and others....could be stock related and other things.

I have seen though that right on the day or around Thanksgiving they put the installation on discount so you get the $100 plus another $120 or something discount (not sure what the exact amount is but saying that its a good deal around that time).

You have to weigh the pros and cons:
CostcoPros: Its only a tire shop; so generally they wont upsell you on much other than tps and valve stems. Unlike other places they will do rotation AND Balancing on the tires for every 5-7k miles up to the 5 year warranty. Most places want to charge me for this service and most do not do balancing. The tire purchase counts towards your membership 2%.
CostcoCons: The wait times are annoying and like you said the flat wait at some locations is stupid (mine will do it but still takes a while to fix). I pretty much have to drop the car off for rotations or plan ahead with an appointment.

I've had 2 sets of tires installed at Costco, along with several rotations. I always make appointments and am typically out much quicker than our local chain place (DT does not exist where I live). also, if you compare apples-to-apples with what the chain place sells (if they sell the exact same tire), Costco comes out cheaper AND if you're an executive member and/or CC holder, you can get up to 4% back on top of it all.

If your a Costco member they don't charge for installation, you get free balance, 5 year road hazard, rotation, free air and flat repairs

They also fill with N2 vs. air, if that matters to you (green caps on the tires). N2 is a larger molecule and should diffuse at a slower rate through the rubber than O2, so theoretically the tires should not lose pressure as quickly. Also, N2 should come from a bottle and be relatively dry whereas air-filled tires are usually direct from a compressor and might be a bit "wet" so N2-filled tires could theoretically have pressures much more stable with temperature than air.

That said I view it mostly as a gimmick, but whatever.

Paid 1k for mine. Real quiet tires.

Hate Costco installs though, takes at least 3 hours.

One of the very few all season tires that are also snow rated. I've had them on two my cars for a year so far and have handled the snow in the Boston area without issue.
At this point every major tire manufacturer makes all weather tires that are snow rated.

Just popping in as a current owner of these tires.
Quiet... not silent but not noticable as an issue.
Very good in the rain.. basically what they are designed for.
Glued to the pavement and feel very stable at speed.
and lastly. I actually get complements at the Gas Pump.. They are cool looking.
