Yes, they do run large. I normally wear 14 and got these in 13.
Yes, the heel is goofy and you'll likely want higher socks.
Yes, they flex more than "traditional" golf shoes which is good or bad depending on your priorities.
These are decent shoes for the price but the Adidas CodeChaos 22 shoe deal I saw earlier on Amazon beats this, IMO.

The tread pattern is so aggressive in the important spots that they might as well be spiked. I've never slipped in them once. Boost foam is just the cherry on top.
I typically wear no show socks that ride very low on my ankle. I just wear my no shows that are a tiny bit bigger and pull them up in the back. If you normally wear ankle or regular socks it will be a non-issue
