Checked the recent reviews. Literally half were negative, and another was kind of "meh" with what I felt were some valid complaints:

1. Power brick too large to fit in outlet behind furniture
2. Included cord only 18" (seriously?!?)
3. Entire display "blinks" subtly (I'm guessing this means it dims a bit) every second. (For those with any kind of even mild OCD-type issues, this will be maddening as you'll constantly be noticing it once you realize it happens)

Other complaints include:

1. The projector progressively getting darker over time (the oldest review in the most recent ten is from September, so this didn't take long). Multiple reports of "projector dims," is already dim out of the box, or died entirely.
2. Projected digits displaying what I'm calling "segment bleed" where segments that are supposed to be off are still dimly lit, making it harder to read. Reviewer included a picture if you don't know what I mean.
3. Have to be careful hitting the snooze button, or you accidently turn the alarm off entirely (they didn't elaborate on how this happens). Being careful when it's just woken me up is entirely unlikely.

Hard pass.

I would really like manufacturers to think beyond the manual buttons for DST or Time settings or even Alarm settings.

99% of the time, the phone is right next to this or even plugged into this device when a person goes to sleep. How hard will it be to incorporate a Bluetooth module into these kind of devices to connect to the phone occasionally and get the time/alarm settings from the phone? No one should have to worry about setting the time manually or setting DST manually nowadays.

Many clock radios have Bluetooth speakers included in them already - but are only used for sound and not time/alarm 😔

That's a valid point but personally my phone is a backup alarm. I do not want to control the main alarm with the phone at all. This way I have to screw up twice to not be woken up.

Absolutely correct. I am not suggesting that it should override the Alarms on the phone.

If connected via Bluetooth, options could be:
  1. just like how you can cancel notifications via a tap on the earbuds or watch, this device can act as a second switch to cancel/snooze the alarm on the phone and if alarm is cancelled on the phone, then clock alarm also stops ringing
  2. copy the alarm settings to the clock and the alarm rings on both devices independently
It is all upto the imagination of the manufacturer on how much they want to integrate. I would atleast want them to integrate the time settings so that users don't have to worry about setting the time up using the buttons or the DST adjustments.

A lot of people already use their phones as alarms. Adding the Bluetooth feature just for DST adjustment would just drive up the cost of a device that less and less people rely on nowadays. At a certain price, people aren't going to even bother buying it. Also, some places don't even use DST.

I would argue the idea is still useful for keeping the time correct - most of these clocks "drift" slowly, and the ability to correct itself periodically against your phone's time (which is usually synced against an atomic clock time server via some circuitous route or other) would help ensure it's always relatively correct.

iPhone is an alarm clock when charging horizontally. This is redundant
My spouse is vision-impaired, and the phone display is too small for her to read from even a slight distance without glasses - who wants to hassle with that when you just want to see what time it is when you wake up in the middle of the night? Just because *you* don't need it doesn't mean it's not useful for *anyone."

Yes.

I do not have this exact device but I have one that looks and functions the same. The procedure for setting the alarm is complicated. I must find the instructions, it is not obvious from looking at the buttons.

The advantage of a Bluetooth connection is that the phone has a much better UI. It would be much easier to change the settings with the UI that phones have instead of the buttons on the device. A few more buttons on the device could really help but a Bluetooth connection would definitely help.

A Bluetooth in the alarm clock does not prevent you from using your phone. And please do not try setting the alarm clock when you are only partially awake, do it when you are fully conscious.

I have this and it works great. For $10 it's got a lot of features and I like being able to see what time it is by just glancing up while I'm in and out of being asleep late at night. It's nice not having to reset it when the power goes out, which happens a lot. I've had mine for maybe 5 or 6 months now. Got it for $15 at the time. My wife wants one for her side of the bed now lol.

Yeah, there were some people who seemed happy with it, but only 4/10 most recent reviews (as of when this was posted this morning). My luck usually puts me in with the 6 that weren't that happy with it, and I really don't have the patience to deal with returning a $10 item. Not chancing it myself.
