Terrible deal. Cricket Wireless don't care or value their existing customers, even if you been loyal to them (xx) number of years. You have to price near full price for an upgrade, on top of that an upgrade fee.

Not as good as metro pricing if you can get one in stock, but for cricket customers this is a pretty good price if you're staying for 6 months. Unlocked S23fe going for $400 new in other deals right now.

As a cricket customer for several years, I get the frustration of the new phone pricing. But these are also this price for existing customers with new lines.

So couldn't you order it with a new number then just swap with an existing sim and not use the new number? I've done this in the past.

Another trick I did once, but would have to look into to remember all the steps or see if still possible, was get a tracphone sim, activate it for $5 or whatever online, then port that number into cricket, then swap old sim into new phone.

Do you need to keep the phone fully activated to get it unlocked for the unlocking period?

Once unlocked, does the IMEI work on Verizon? I know this is an issue with some devices from the Metro phones.

6 months of paid service. though you can switch to a lower priced plan after activation. https://www.cricketwireless.com/l...olicy.html

I used to do the same. order the phone as a new customer, new number. then use it on an existing line for 6 months and unlock. Does that not work?

Sure, but with a few differences.

First, Cricket has access to ATT's 5G+ where available, while Visible customers need the $45 plan for their Ultra Wideband version. Visible advertises its $25 plan as having speeds of 9-56 Mbps. I just tested mine with Cricket and got 92 Mbps, and I'm not even in a 5G+ city.

Also, the $60 plan is subject to a $5 discount with auto pay, or discounted additional lines, where Visible is $25 or $45 per line, as they got rid of their multi-line plans this year. .

So Visible is definitely cheaper, but I pay $130 for 4 lines of (in my experience) faster speeds and the best coverage for my area. Plus I also get HBO/MAX for free.

I haven't read the fine print here, but I'm also pretty sure the mileage here will vary depending on who you intend to use the phone with. The whole point is to get new customers to come and use their service, so you get less attractive deals if you're an existing customer or are just trying to grab a phone and take it somewhere else.

But there are ways around some of the perceived cost. They just charge you the month up front. The 6 month thing is just to unlock it. Since I use Cricket, when I did it in the past, I paid the first month with the purchase, then tossed the sim and swapped in an old one and that was it. Never activated or continued using/paying for the new number.

When I bought my daughter a phone last year with a new number, they charged the $60 plan up front with purchase, but then discounted it $40 per the family plan pricing.

Yes that works but you don't have to order this one as a new customer unless you aren't an existing cricket use since this deal works for existing customers adding a new line. If you plan to use the new phone with an existing line and have no need for a new line, then you just pop in the existing sim and use the phone when it arrives and skip activating the new line. That way the service credit you paid for the new line becomes a credit on your existing account (assuming you order as an existing customer).
