Is there a difference between the one with the metal kickstand that is on OP's link versus the described "newer" model with the black kickstand?

I got one and returned it. The cable was too stiff and it gets too hot for my comfort. My suggestion is just to wait for the official Apple one to go on sale and get that instead.
