So you are comparing this laptop to a unicorn or bigfoot? Holding it to a standard that doesn't exist?

What laptop is $1000? Another fantastical comparison?

$500 is a deal for the other specs that are far more important to those of us who don't base our perception of a 3 digit number on the cardboard box. Nits is a completely useless number that is rated differently manufacturer to manufacturer. Buy a Chromebook if that is the only spec that matters to you.

i7, 16gb of ram, backlit keyboard, pretty much the best integrated GPU available? "cOrNeR cUtTiNg"

Tell us you don't know what you are talking about without telling us you don't know what you are talking about.

But post a better deal, your yardstick, one you don't have the time to address but plenty of time to argue

I was watching this model. It was $579.99 at a previous sale about two months ago. And HP charged $10 more for backit keyboard at that time.
Now it is included.

Is the i7-1360P CPU upgrade worth it?

What's the point of upgrading from the realtek to the mediatek networking card? Specs sound similar.

Any thoughts on upgrading the display, are any of the other options noticeably better?

Can the SSD in this be easily replaced? I bought an HP laptop a few years ago, and it seemed like the M.2 SSD was easily replaceable, but it involved more than just removing some screws and snapping apart the chassis, it also involved removing parts that were held together by glue and high strength double sided tape, which seemed rather messy to me when I had to put it back together.

Costco has one with i5 but 512GB SSD for the same price.

i would but it would be a waste of my time to do so. just passing by and offering my opinion.

250nits for a $1k laptop is a joke, for $500 is not a deal.

this is probably their corner cutting budget laptop produced exclusively for black friday.
There is no better deal out there than this. It's an actual IPS screen with 1920x 1080 resolution. 250 nits is plenty for indoors, and they offer the option to upgrade it to 300 nits for 90 dollars more.

You really can't get a better deal than this.

i7 at $500 is rare regardless of its specifications.

Does anyone know if the RAM can be upgraded further on this device beyond 16GB (say up to 32GB)?

The RAM is socketed and Walmart sells the same model number that ships with 32GB of RAM so I'd say yes it's upgradable.

Unless you are watching movies in direct sunlight or editing photos in direct sunlight silly high nits ratings (which are probably bogus anyway) is not a must have, and if you are then this laptop wouldn't be for you anyway. Either you could get away with a Chromebook or need a far more capable machine. Plus, more screen snobs are going to use an external display.

BTW, most of the cost of a laptop does NOT go to screen or SSD. CPU, ram, features are actually what drives the price. There are plenty of better screens with lackluster specs in the $300 range.
