Great deal if you are into this system. The trimmer head is replaceable on this model. I use the Shakespeare Push-N-Load for easy line changes. Attachment capable as well.

Suddenly a year went by and then I started seeing Greenworks selling incompatible 60v and 80v platform... So much for being "Green". Now I would have to go buy a bunch of separate 60v and 80v chargers and batteries if I wanted to keep expanding my line of battery powered "Green"works appliances.
I got fooled for believing that I was being green by surrendering my gas-powered appliances for these "green" battery powered products. Now in place of my gas powered leaf blower (which was far more powerful) I would have a bunch of battery powered appliances that are incompatible with each other, aren't as strong, and don't work interoperably.
Is there a brand of tools and appliances that are truly universal? I would ideally like to sell all this "Green" crap for pennies on the dollar in favor of a singular voltage and battery platform that has the most number of interchangeable tools.
From now on I will boycott all companies and products that aren't truly Green - meaning that if I have to buy multiple different chargers and batteries to use your power tools, you won't get a dime of my money! What a scam...
I bought my first 80V Kobalt leaf blower in 2015 and it is still in use today. I prefer the ease of use from battery powered lawn equipment and have been incredibly pleased with the tools. As Kobalt 80V is no longer sold in-store and online only, I was disappointed like you. After doing research, I found that I can modify the batteries for either Kobalt or Greenworks 80v compatibility.
It seems you bought into the 40V line and aren't pleased. I believe the "green" argument is debatable as Li-ion battery production is not "environmentally friendly". With Li-ion battery power, I can easily start my tools, I don't smell like gas or oil and maintenance is easier than with gas-powered equipment. For my use, Li-ion has provided comparable or better power and more convenience.
Greenworks is a good system as they continually add new tools and support what they sell.

"Is there a brand of tools and appliances that are truly universal?"
Yes, the Greenworks 80V brand of tools. Everything from zero-turn riding mowers to shop vacs, pole saws, chainsaws, trimmers, leaf blowers, edgers, snow throwers, etc, etc, etc. They all use the same batteries and chargers.
The manufacturer isn't to blame for your lack of research.
I have a few attachments: a hedge trimmer and a steel blade edger. They both work well and it saves on space and $$ by not buying separate tools.....one powerhead for many attachments.

The one thing I do not love is the attachment capable part. It seems like the screw has to be on the tightest setting and even then it is a little wobbly. I feel like I could add a spacer to fix the issue but has not bother me enough to spend the time.

"A fool and his money… are soon parted."
Probably they will come out with a 100v battery platform next year that will make all of the 80v stuff obsolete.

After watching greenworks deals for a while, I do agree they don't always offer equal discounts on all of the lines. One year they will focus advertising and discounts on the 40v line and the next year there will be better discounts on the 60v or 80v.
The trimmer doesn't clog. It's weird. I go through 8-10" tall grass and it just cuts it up.

I see them all the time on Facebook Marketplace used for 1/4 the price of new. Just take your trimmer's power head along to test.
