iconian for suggesting the additional coupon for this final price.
This is $10 more expensive than the
previous deal but this one is directly from Lenovo and so might be paired with id.me and AMEX offer for further discounts making it cheaper than the previous deal.

and the deal is not compatible with IDme discounts
See the other thread for more ways to save on this.
Without that extra 16% back, it still qualifies as slick, but isn't quite as good a deal as we saw last month on this model with AmEx offers.
NOTE that if you are inclined to get an extended warranty, then this is extra-slick, because they are offering 20% off warranty upgrades when purchased along with the laptop, and the amount spent on the warranty also qualifies (theoretically of course!) for any extra money you might get back. A 4-year warranty would add around $157 to the price. Lenovo warranty service is excellent, and if you use that once over 4 years, it pays for itself. I sent in a laptop once and there was a long delay for the replacement part, so with my permission, they just sent me back a new laptop (a newer, better model) instead.
As for the config, this i7-1365U processor, coupled with this low power screen, appears to the be the sweet spot for performance vs battery life.

The HP is heavier and more performance oriented, and should probably be compared to the ThinkPad T14s, which is similar in size and specs, and delivers more performance for the money.

Whether the specs are what you needed depends entirely on how you plan to use it. Screen resolution is a personal preference. The HP display has more flexibility there.
The X1 is not built for gaming or intense video editing, but it's more than powerful enough for single threaded applications, including photo editing, which is why it's my choice. I'm not a gamer but I do want a screen with high quality color rendering and I value even small differences in size, weight, battery life, and build quality.

I will say that the reason I purchased the X1 Carbon is that I have an X1 Carbon Gen 4 (!) And it's obviously an older generation and much slower than modern processors but it is without question the best laptop I've ever owned, and it's not even close. The thing is 7 1/2 years old and I still use it constantly and it still runs really well. I replaced the battery once a couple of years ago and it goes all day on a charge. Never had a hiccup other than the aging original battery that I replaced. I travel with it and barely notice it in my bag. The ONLY reason I'm replacing it is that files and images keep getting bigger and software gets more bloated and it pauses too much when handling/opening/saving newer larger files (and it's no longer supported with updates and can't run Win11). I have 3 family members with newer ThinkPad T14s and Yogas that weigh just a half pound more, and it's crazy how much bulkier they feel. So I'm sticking with the X1 Carbon even though I'm afraid Gen 11 won't live up to the standard set by Gen 4.
