I am not a runner but like ASICS gel sole. My problem is my big toes apparently move up when I walk. It cuts a hole in the top of the shoe. Any cheap models that have extra leather in that spot?

What is happening to tall the size 10 wides? The 10 wides are only available in one color for almost $50 more than the sale price!

I've been looking for ASICS and Saucony shoes in 10w, and they are increasingly hard to find and cost a premium.

Not sure if an accurate comparison as my ASICS were purchased 5 years ago, but they were my favorite running shoes hands down. Loved them. I ran so much the soles were going bald. Picked up Hokas this year for a substantial ncrease in price and regret NOTHING. I'm running on clouds. Knees complain less, I enjoy running even more. Can't believe I didn't buy these years ago.

I have this same issue with Asics. Started happening a few years ago, so I think they've been using cheaper materials.

I like them so I still buy them, but I do put patches like this on the inside of the toe before I start using them. Worked for me so far

I can't say that I have tried these exact pairs, but I have have tried a number of different Nimbus and Cumulus shoes over the last 15-20 years and I can say that the quality of the Cumulus has gone way down. Nimbus was always there top of the line, but Cumulus used to be just a single step down and I could use them as a back up running shoe. In the last 10 years or so the Cumulus have taken a significant step back and I usually only wear them for casual walking and not for running. I am not sure about the differences between the Nimbus 24 and 25, but for $16 more I would get the Nimbus 24 over these.

I am not sure which ASICS you were running on, but I would agree that the Hokas are better than ASICS. They are slightly better than Nimbus and much better than these Cumulus.

Cumulus is plenty shoe for a casual treadmill runner. I am a casual road runner, and roads have more impact. Retiring my cumulus 23 for cumulus 24. I was generally happy with 23 and 24 is an upgrade. I have some other cushier/bouncier shoes like Fuel Cell Rebel but feel that my foot pronates because of the softness of the cushion and causes my legs/ankles to tire much faster.
Nimbus is more of a shoe than cumulus (a few mm more stack height), and could be a good option as well if you feel that you need more of a shoe. One scenario where you could make a stronger case for Nimbus is if you are a heavier runner or have joint issues. Or if you plan to run longer distances - like 1/2 to full marathon distances. Another thing to think of is that higher stack shoes can be less versatile because they can be more unstable with lateral movement. e.g. think if you may want to wear this shoe for a casual pickleball game. Although both are "running shoes" Cumulus would do better than Nimbus in this specific scenario.

I run 6-10 miles a week, outdoor on sidewalks. Weigh about 165. I've been running in cumulus gel 23s since January '23 and they have been great! Not too much shoe, perfect for me. I just purchased the 24s and looking forward to trying them. Thanks OP
