    Bought and returned this before, the magnets are not well placed so it is a really awkward "writing" tool to teach with. Would not recommend unless it's purely being used as a toy.

    Apparently the whole lower case q is pretty controversial online. Simply put, it's just a matter of different writing fonts. More complex is that the vertical downstroke of the q is curved backwards (or hashed) in order to differentiate it from g and 9. Similar to how the Q has a hash to differentiate it from O. It's also a precursor to cursive, guiding the pen towards the next character. I grew up writing it with the reward curve.

    Yah. Don't bother with this. Magnets are not that strong. Just work with the kid 1:1. More work, but they'll learn faster than using this.
