This victus and the gigabyte are lower wattage version of the 4060.. plus I'm guessing the cooling is sub-par.

-I'm still hoping for some other holiday sale prices.. -really want the latest gen AMD cpu if I'm spending over $900.. 7735hs is literally last gen tech (6800hs) they tried to make sound like it was new by renaming it.. and for $900 I am hoping to get a 4070 gpu.. Otherwise I'll just keep waiting xD

Just looking at a budget entry level gaming laptop.
Plus, other laptops between $700-800 I've been seeing lately have 100% SRGB screens, and full power gpu which to me is worth the extra cost..but it's easy to keep thinking "just another $100-200 more and I'll be happy", LOL
If having a numpad isn't important to you... this Omen is also worth considering...

Sorry but a 75 watt RTX 4060 is as fast as and sometimes faster than a 130 watt RTX 4050. RTX 4060 has 3072 shaders with 128 bit memory interface, while RTX 4050 only has 2560 shaders with 96 bit memory interface. I see no reason to pick a 130 watt RTX 4050 over a 75 watt RTX 4060 for the same price. RTX 4050 performance is pretty much capped at 90 watts, hardly any gain going from 90 watts to 130 watts.

Also, idk why mfg's are claiming higher than 90w on their 4050's when nvidia has them voltage capped... such trickery and shenanigans xD
Anyways, seems like you are correct.. and well informed

With the 10% rebate, I am heavily deciding returning my open box gigabyte from best buy with a 4050 140 watt and only 8gigs of ram I got for $630 and just getting this since after rebate it will be almost the same price and also have a full 16gb of ram.... Will need to examine the screens to make my decision I think.
That being said for a mobile gaming laptop, not a desktop replacement this sure fits the bill for being easy on the power drain and thin/light while still providing over 60FPS in any 1080p game currently on the market.
I have another Victus and it's pretty solid. HP definitely improved their gaming laptops. I have an Omen from 2016 that was $1000. Huge improvement, especially with cooling.

I ended up currently keeping my gigabtye cause it has the latest i5 processor instead of the last year model which the victus has. Still keeping my eye out for a nice sub $1000 laptop cause of the long return window.

It looks like most games were only 9 fps less, and others were a lot more.
The last year model processor and DDR4 were what made me kinda not want it, but figured it still out performs this years stuff (graphically) that's listed at $750.
Exactly what I'm doing, waiting until Jan 31st returns and keep looking.
I was looking for a laptop just as powerful as my desktop, this is it. I have a Rtx 2060 with Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB Ram.
Side by side both connected to a 1440p monitor, It runs 10-30F cooler, 10% less gpu is utilized on ultra settings of a game I play, cpu has zero problem with youtube and numerous tabs. The speakers are loud. Sturdy build, no flexing on the keyboard when pressing down. Ability to control fans drops the gpu/cpu temps by 50/60 degrees. In my instance it went from 155 to around 100F. The laptop wasn't plugged in so maybe performance would be even better, I wanted to test out the battery drainage. It lasts about 1-2 hours.
One issue I've had with this Victus and another one is the the track pad disfunctions sometimes. It auto holds down so when you move the mouse it highlights things. I need to contact HP about this.
Minus that, I'm impressed with HPs budget gaming laptops.
Google '1030 Nvidia card fraud'.
You have to watch them!
