Personally in this price range I'd wait for the a16 TUF at bestbuy with 7600s. 99% SRGB screen, and much higher power gpu. it was $750 for the past few weeks.

This victus and the gigabyte are lower wattage version of the 4060.. plus I'm guessing the cooling is sub-par.

Such a shame, these gimped 4060, should be some sort of fraud, probably explains the elden ring at 40fps, i was reading about on one of these, when frame rate should be much higher.

HP's website states this is 75 watts, same as Gigabyte

Lol just posted right above you, I'm considering those 3 laptops 2 from microcenter, any feedback? looks to be all similar cost. Don't have amex so best I could do is CB, and the 10 percent coupon.
Haha, I hear you buddy! Well hmm without an Amex offer I'd probably go for the legion 5 if you're buying something right away.. unfortunately nvidia didn't release their new DLSS3 support for 3000 series cards.. pretty sure frame generation is only going to keep getting better.. plus I always hear good things about the legion line.

-I'm still hoping for some other holiday sale prices.. -really want the latest gen AMD cpu if I'm spending over $900.. 7735hs is literally last gen tech (6800hs) they tried to make sound like it was new by renaming it.. and for $900 I am hoping to get a 4070 gpu.. Otherwise I'll just keep waiting xD

How is this compared to the Lenovo LOQ?
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/leno...Id=6534467 [bestbuy.com]

Just looking at a budget entry level gaming laptop.
I suppose the Victus having 8gb more system memory and the 4060 (albeit a power-gimped version) would perform better.. but the LOQ I think is still pretty decent for playing most games at relatively high settings.. tough to say if the Victus is worth spending $100 more if you're on a strict budget..

Plus, other laptops between $700-800 I've been seeing lately have 100% SRGB screens, and full power gpu which to me is worth the extra cost..but it's easy to keep thinking "just another $100-200 more and I'll be happy", LOL

If having a numpad isn't important to you... this Omen is also worth considering...

This low-power 4060 should be pretty similar to a full-power 4050, both of which should be around 50% faster than the 3050 in the Lenovo. The Omen doesn't look bad, aside from the screen (and maybe slightly weak CPU, mainly multi-core). I think the best current option in this price range is the Predator Helios Neo 16 refurb from eBay.

Sorry but a 75 watt RTX 4060 is as fast as and sometimes faster than a 130 watt RTX 4050. RTX 4060 has 3072 shaders with 128 bit memory interface, while RTX 4050 only has 2560 shaders with 96 bit memory interface. I see no reason to pick a 130 watt RTX 4050 over a 75 watt RTX 4060 for the same price. RTX 4050 performance is pretty much capped at 90 watts, hardly any gain going from 90 watts to 130 watts.

You're probably right about the Predator Helios deal..great specs for the price! I personally avoid Acer after having a bunch of issues with one a few years back, but people with the Helios seem to like them, so idk..maybe they've improved since the Nitro I had that sounded like an airplane taking off, (and that's when it was "working right", lol).

Nicely backed up info bro.. it's kinda surprising moving from 50w to 115w on the 4070 is only around 25% difference in FPS..

Also, idk why mfg's are claiming higher than 90w on their 4050's when nvidia has them voltage capped... such trickery and shenanigans xD

Anyways, seems like you are correct.. and well informed Smilie

I said "This low-power 4060 should be pretty similar to a full-power 4050," which is accurate. I didn't say they were identical or the 4050 was better. While it's true that >100w TGP doesn't help the 4050 much, it's also true that a 75w 4060 is losing probably 10% of the advantage a full-power 4060 has. So, the 75w 4060 probably has a 5-10% advantage over the 130w 4050. Sure, all other things being equal, I would take the 75w 4060. However, that hasn't been the case when comparing recent deals. Typically, the systems with low-power 4060s are low quality in other aspects. This is evident in the reviews you linked for the Predator and the G5. The Predator has better overall system performance, a much better screen, better build quality, better thermals and a charger that doesn't overheat and shut down (lol). The G5 has ~5-10% advantage in gaming performance. For a similar price, I'm picking the Predator. This Victus is probably a similar story to the G5 (low quality screen, lower build quality, worse thermals), but it is a bit cheaper than the G5 deal was.

You also have to take into account that a full watt 4060 can melt the polar ice caps. Then people complain about thermals and how hot their laptop gets and only can play games while plugged in.

Looking at the numbers the 4060 75watt is on par with any 4050 thats at least 105watt cause Nvidia wattage capped all the 4050s even ones that state 140 watts at 105watt....

With the 10% rebate, I am heavily deciding returning my open box gigabyte from best buy with a 4050 140 watt and only 8gigs of ram I got for $630 and just getting this since after rebate it will be almost the same price and also have a full 16gb of ram.... Will need to examine the screens to make my decision I think.

That being said for a mobile gaming laptop, not a desktop replacement this sure fits the bill for being easy on the power drain and thin/light while still providing over 60FPS in any 1080p game currently on the market.
I'm not sure about the screen, however someone on Reddit mentioned that the 4060 75W is approx 18% better than the maxed out 4050. If you youtube side by side comparisons of the 4060 75W with a 105W one, I think it's only 10-15 FPS difference, that's not considering the other hardware difference, but at a several hundred dollars less.

I have another Victus and it's pretty solid. HP definitely improved their gaming laptops. I have an Omen from 2016 that was $1000. Huge improvement, especially with cooling.

Surprisingly HP greatly improved on their laptops cooling. I have a different Victus, it stays around 80F on a game that's poorly optimized which makes the Ultra graphics setting demanding. It's cool to the touch. Until now, I haven't had another gaming laptop and I guess I'm just use to excessive heat from laptops, so maybe I'm over hyping?

I you tubed before I posted and I did not see that improvement at all at max in most games the gimped 4060 was getting 3-5 frames more, nowhere near 10-15 from the side by sides I saw. To be fair also really hard to find anyone with videos of the 75W 4060 almost all of them had the 90Watt version so have to be careful.

I ended up currently keeping my gigabtye cause it has the latest i5 processor instead of the last year model which the victus has. Still keeping my eye out for a nice sub $1000 laptop cause of the long return window.

Yeah, I only saw one video. Here ya go. https://youtu.be/r-fDNudXo6k?si=fUTbk0dH9NTltIbH

It looks like most games were only 9 fps less, and others were a lot more.

The last year model processor and DDR4 were what made me kinda not want it, but figured it still out performs this years stuff (graphically) that's listed at $750.

Exactly what I'm doing, waiting until Jan 31st returns and keep looking.

This must be a walmart exclusive. If you want it, you better order it soon. My package was listed as 617/690. So I'm assuming they'll be out of stock soon.

I was looking for a laptop just as powerful as my desktop, this is it. I have a Rtx 2060 with Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB Ram.

Side by side both connected to a 1440p monitor, It runs 10-30F cooler, 10% less gpu is utilized on ultra settings of a game I play, cpu has zero problem with youtube and numerous tabs. The speakers are loud. Sturdy build, no flexing on the keyboard when pressing down. Ability to control fans drops the gpu/cpu temps by 50/60 degrees. In my instance it went from 155 to around 100F. The laptop wasn't plugged in so maybe performance would be even better, I wanted to test out the battery drainage. It lasts about 1-2 hours.

One issue I've had with this Victus and another one is the the track pad disfunctions sometimes. It auto holds down so when you move the mouse it highlights things. I need to contact HP about this.

Minus that, I'm impressed with HPs budget gaming laptops.

Nvidia has a history of letting this happen.

Google '1030 Nvidia card fraud'.

You have to watch them!

Why is it gimped? Looking for a gaming laptop for vr. I don't need to run absolute high settings.
