For what it's worth, I buy my own oil (full synthetic) and filter when I see the oil deals here on Slickdeals. A good Mobil 1 filter at Walmart, or similar deal on eBay and you can make a very economical oil change. I have a local shop that will change my oil for $15 if I provide the oil and filter, no wait or appointment , just pull in and they do it. It would be worth asking around, or even asking a non-franchised quick change place if they will do it if you provide the oil and filter.
...And yet people balk at the price when we do the same for $40 at my shop (with a WIX filter!). Why? Because they all instantly compare prices to the Wal-Mart s-, I mean, pit crew price of $25 for an oil that is absolutely bottom-tier and a sad excuse they call a filter.

Moral of the story? At least try to call a few local shops to see if you can get a better price on your next oil change. Most are probably high, but there are still a few righteous shops out there hanging on for dear life watching while people grossly overpay for the most simple services elsewhere.
Slightly off topic, but IMO with labor prices the way they are now I think it's absolutely still worth changing your own oil if you are able to. I can change the oil in either of my cars with full synthetic (Supertech or Kirkland usually) and an OEM filter for under $25. Takes about 15 minutes if I'm working slowly. Ramps and a catch can will set you back about $60, then you're set for life.

Not an option for everyone to be sure, but it's maintenance almost anyone can handle if they have a place to work and the desire to save some money.

The last time I used a Valvoline coupon they "found" a leak in the fuel tank, even though no fuel had leaked on the asphalt from our 15-minute wait. Ever since then I've changed my own oil and have saved so much more $$$.

To make it even easier to change oil, get a fumoto valve to replace your drain plug.

how much is an oil change nowadays?
It depends where you live. Last year near Seattle it would cost me about ~$55 - $60 depending on where I went. Now I'm near Green Bay and it costs me $80 - $100 (about 3 weeks ago and it was $88.xx after tax... cheapest between about 15 places within a 60 mile radius)

In Oct I took a similar $25 coupon and my 2018 Camry to my local Vavoline Oil Change it was
$104.99
-$25 coupon
so $79.99 plus tax for full synthetic and of course the quote full service check.

Upon leaving my tire pressure light came on and I had to refill my tires at home with my own compressor to the door decal psi....they had actually deflated my tires. Also, got the hard sell for a new battery and other filters and wiper blades.

This after I had recently got a dealer offer for full synthetic for $49.99.

Oil changes are ridiculous these days; I have since read several articles where fleet managers are simply not changing full synthetic oil at all....just a filter every year or two or when actual lab tests show it is necessary.

I wouldn't go here to get your oil change. Go to a dealer or small business or do it yourself if you can. Valvoline tightens the oil filter so tight that I needed to use the jaws of life to take off my gf oil filter. After removing it, the oil filter resembled a crushed soda can.

According to "my tiktok research" Valvoline employees are required to use a tool that over tightens the oil filter. You can see other mechanics trying their hardest to remove the oil filter even the last resort of sticking a screwdriver through it so you have extra leverage.

Other mechanics and DIY oil changers say this is bad because it might strip the threads where the oil filter goes.

Find a good local shop that you trust, or just do it yourself. I have trust issues with most of the oil change places after bad experiences. And if none of these options work for you, buy an electric car and forget about oil change.

I took this coupon there and they knew nothing about it. They took it but had to wait to verify validity. And they only had regular or synthetic not the Extended performance one that I buy at Walmart. for ease it's easier for me to go to Walmart

18 miles closest location in my area. Not worth it considering the time and gas.

Edit: I called to the location and they charge $104 for full synthetic oil change, even with a coupon its more expensive than official dealer charge.
