I don't recommend google hardware anymore. They can't be trusted. I had the older model which won't let me update settings anymore. It still works, but you cannot do anything about it: https://support.google.com/google...r/11257354

Incorrect. You can setup extra routers as points.
Source: I owned 3 routers. When wirelessly meshed the 2 Ethernet points are active so you can wire in a device if needed. I eventually used the 3 in an Ethernet backhaul.

Looks like amazon has it for $65. This is the wifi 5, not the wifi 6 version.

I bought a 4 pack from Costco and had a ton of issues. Thought it was the hardware so returned them and bought another set.

Some issues:
1. Laggy interface
2. Connections would drop briefly as I walked into other rooms
3. SID was still visible but couldn't not connect new devices until we restarted the router
4. Sometimes the speed would drop drastically

We would have to almost power cycle them every other week just to keep them "running smoothly."

Switched to a Netgear Orbi setup (forget the exact model) and have not experienced any of the mentioned issues in the 5 years I've had them.

Last time that Google had an awesome fire sale on their hardware, they ended up canceling it exactly one month later. I don't trust Google when it comes paid products

I don't think so. I had the original TP-Link made Onhub and it was excellent up until Google told me support was ending. There is no end user reason why Google had to do it. WiFi 5 is still a common standard most people use. It had zero issues on my network. Changing network equipment for seemingly no reason is aggravating and forced EOL in the age of climate change is wild.

I got the same model for free from Amazon years back. While it worked, its range was terrible and it didn't even have basic features like MAC address spoofing.

That's the reason you don't trust them?

I second this. I have Nest product and Google Nest products, specifically the garage flood cam. I had to update my router and there's no way to reconnect the camera without doing a manual reset and this thing isn't easy to get to.

I have 2 routers of these. They suck. The primary router works great. The secondary router disconnects randomly usually once or twice a week and requires a reboot to work again.

Same. I recently switched to TP link (which i had two of the Onhubs and they out-perfomed the pucks). Google had a great app to manage, but greying out the wifi settings is just a slap in the face. End support for the hardware, but brick the software so I can't adjust DNS or port forwarding?

Anyways, I have a firewalla now which I should have added years ago.

Google Nest used to make good hardware, now it's all crap and outdated.

Don't get me started on the Nest outdoor wireless cams. Those are the worst! Poor picture quality and you have to charge them every month.

Honestly anybody still shilling for Google hardware at this point probably have some kinds of agenda. My perfectly fine Onhub has been a paper weight since Jan. And this is not the first time. Search for Google Graveyard to see how many products they killed at this point.

Everything to them is just an experiment. They don't care about end users at all.

Too many to list at this point. Unless you like throwing money in the toilet then buy Google hardware. Their Pixel phones are another piece of garbage. Battery tends to degrade very quickly and get very hot. And while their Google TV dongle (4K) version is still on Android version 12. They cited some memory limitation bullcrap that I don't buy.

I had 3 with all wire to a switch and they were great and stable.

My only 2 cons was that they could never go over 600mbps and I upgraded to 1.2 gbps internet.

The two wifi bands cannot be split and 2.4 lot devices had a hard time connecting to it if at all. I had to have a cheap tplink for them.

Where was this deal when they bricked my OnHubs?
Google was too busy finding new idiots to care about scrubs like you and me. Now they have this EOL, this is on sale to find new idiots to buy in !
