YMMV since this is clearly a targeted offer.

Found the answer:
Per the chipset being used in the 3, the 128 uses ufs 3.1 and the 512 uses ufs 4.0
ufs 3.1 speed is 2100/1200
ufs 4.0 speed is 4200/2800
So quite a bit faster than a micro-sd card so you are correct, I was wrong.
Not going to argue with you about how little internal memory they include, i agree that the base amounts in pretty much anything these days is ridiculous, but sd cards are still slow as shit at anything but large file transfers, and while i haven't kept up with them it looks like they just barely got to sata 2 hard drive speeds.
Folks running AAA games off sd cards on steam decks. It's fine given meta vr games are glorified Android games at this point. Folks are running GoW and TOTK off sd cards. Yes internal storage is faster but the game will still run.

AR is cool, but as someone mentioned it is very immersion breaking when the generated content looks better than the video quality. I will say it would be cool if osmeone is talking with me I can pause my content and see them without having to take my headset off.

As a VR/AR developer, that's what I tell people. Is the marginal improvement VR wise and the addition of Mixed Reality (aspects of VR and AR together like in the Quest 3) worth spending 2x the price vs the Quest 2?
Especially with the 10% off offer still valid on the Quest 2 as of a few seconds ago. I only got the Quest 3 since I was able to get 10% off via talking with customer support in the app, paying almost nothing out-of-pocket thanks to Microsoft Rewards, and upgrading from the Quest 1. If I had the Quest 2, I almost certainly wouldn't have upgraded.
If you're on the fence, you're better off getting the Quest 2 now while it's on sale and using the savings to get the Quest 4 or whatever new headset down the road. The Quest 2 will likely still be supported for a while, especially since they're still selling it. While the AR/MR on the Quest 3 is good, especially for the price point, it'll only get better in the future with software updates and new headsets.
Also, some Best Buy host free demos of the Quest 3 on the weekends. It might be worth checking out and seeing if having AR/MR is worth the 2x price.

Also, you are able to not have to take off the headset and see your surroundings via double tapping the side of the headset. On the Quest 2, it's black and white, on the Quest 3, it's in colour, less laggy, and has depth factored in thanks to the sensors on the front.
As I've gotten very much into VR, I wanted to post some info.
1) Don't overlook referrals. Essentially you use a referral from someone and you both get $30, which is one or two games. You can do this before you activate your headset and I believe within 60 days after activating. See instructions below on how to do that.
2) These are some suggestions of the games I happen to think are either really good and/or will show friends to showcase VR.
• Until You Fall - Weapon-based rouge-lite where you use perks and various weapons to block, deflect, and sword fight with enemies. Has bosses too. Great workout!
• Ancient Dungeon - It's a rouge-lite where you go further into the dungeon with kind of... Minecraft-style graphics. But it has dozens of perks and changes everytime you play. It's crazy the amount of work put into this.
• Population One - Pretty much the de-facto battle royale game on VR if you guys like BR's.
• Halflife Alyx - The very best game on VR! You'll have to use your PC for this one and connect via AirLink or VirtualDesktop. Let me know if you need help with this.
• PokerStars VR - The game I've played THE most. I don't even like poker that much but it was free so I tried it. It's more than poker. You log in, see everyone walking around the lobby, find a table, and end up just chatting and joking and laughing for hours. I met so many great people on there. Some I ended up being good friends with and even met people IRL. It's just a great social... experience?
• Synth Riders - Everyone talks about Beat Saber for your rhythm game but Synth is where it's at. The songs are much better and the "moves" are more dancy. It'll work up a sweat for sure!
• Pistol Whip - Another rhythm game that's essentially a rail-shooter where you shoot to the music. Has great music and it WILL make you sweat.
• Phasmaphobia - This game man... it's all about going into a house or a school or prison or whatever with a team of 4 people and you guys are using all kinds of tools to investigate whatever kind of ghost/spirit is in the place. In VR it's scary. I remember the first time I played it alone in my house... looking down the stairs to the basement and pointing my flashlight down there to see something move out of the light... jesus!
• Cook-Out: A Sandwich Tale - You work with others to put together sandwiches. It's fast, it gets intense, you guys have to rely on each other, and it's addicting. I love it, especially once you get a few levels in and the customers and coming in hot and fast. It gets crazy.
Also know that you can use the Quest wirelessly with your gaming PC to play a lot of games.
If you have any questions let me know. I love getting people into VR!
Below are some instructions about referrals. There shouldn't be any reason why anyone doesn't use one. It's basically a free game with your headset!
